This is a discussion forum meaning we do not all agree i still believe my points are correct, and may question is still the same Is this the "Official" web site or not? Why bang on about volunteers we all know that if it wasn't for volunteers we would be far worse off than we are now, but every other club has a similar band of volunteers, it is the volunteers that provide all that is good within our club, that is the point.

Presumably TY and NS are full time employees? correct or not, if that is the case you cant tell me that they do not have time for a few words for the website or for that matter the programme ?

I bang on about volunteers because its those like Wellsie, Steve B, and Niki who upate things like the website and do the programmes in their own time.

Just think personally GT you are making too much out of things but that is just my own opinion.

Isn't it a miracle how we all survived pre website days.

Perhaps the world needs slowing down a bit?

I feel so sorry for u genuine MFC supporters you blindly follow MFC staff and Directors, u do deserve answers,it would nt take much to make a statement about wots goin on at the moment, I see many of you are blaming the TDC for the predicament your in, but it werent the council who ran the huge Tax Bill that your facing, but many of you expect them , and the developer to get you outta the sh*t your in, when maybe you shud be looking who put you the in the first place!!

I must say that it doesn't take 5 minutes of your day just to add a little something to the site.

How about something like this.

Margate Football club is pleased to have signed Liam Harwood from Bristol Rovers on a 1 month loan. The defender may make his debut on Saturday when we entertain Harlow Town.

My point is that it should be put on the website first before the general media get hold of it.

1st port of call - official website

2nd port of call - the media

3rd port of call - maybe the forum!!!

Dover's website is a fantastic example. Its one of the best football website's i've seen. As far as i'm concerned, it has it all.

Thats all it takes!!!!!! 2 minutes.

Thank You Paul, my point exactly, I am NOT criticising volunteers they are the lifeblood of OUR club and imagine if people like Wellsie didnt do what they do but i will not blindly support the structure of this club if i feel we could be achieving more and the more in question is from the appointed officials NOT the volunteers.

My grandfather Ron was one of Margate FC's biggest volunteers of the past. Every Sunday morning he would be cleaning up the mess at the club and doing his bit on the main stand on matchdays. I understand the value of volunteers and that they are the lifeblood of the football club, they also get my upmost respect whoever they may be. The site is Margate Football Clubs own source of promoting and advertising the club. Quite frankly it is not used to its potential. Regular updates would keep supporters up to date with goings on and help stop silly little whispers. We all want to know whats going on and be part of it helping to keep supporters enthusiastic.

Hotel De Ville's site promotes the club, (even though we are small in comparison) keeps people interested, helps to attract better players, promotes our sponsors, shows our ambitions and has had over 20'000 hits this season so far. It has players profiles, polls, match photo's, news items, match previews. Its all good fun. As far as i am aware no other sunday league club in Thanet has a site a good as ourselves.

I work on the site with two other people.

I feel that if a bunch of sunday footballers can do it, then Margate FC should be able to do better than they are!

This is of course my opinion and with respect I know we all have our own on here.

I believe newspapers are not as popular as they were Alan. The simple reason is that the internet is free and most people have access to it. I appreciate that the older generation like my grandfather do not have internet access but it is my firm belief that newspapers have had there day. The site needs promoting in programmes and in the local newspaper. Leah has a degree in advertising. She has said on many occasions that the football club do not promote and advertise themselves very well.

Its all about creating interest.

I mean papers like KM Extra which is distributed free to every home in Thanet so, hence a wider audience. However I do agree more advertising is needed at the club especially for game, ball match sponsorship etc and that is down to the officials at the club not the volunteers.

I think the volunteers could not do much more than they do. Like I said before, they get my upmost respect. For the record my finger is not pointing at the volunteers. Its pointing at the club officials that should be doing all of the above.

"it is my firm belief that newspapers have had there day. The site needs promoting in programmes and in the local newspaper"

Am I missing something here?

If newspapers have had their day what's the point of advertising the website in them?

All too typical unfortunately - websites have to be advertised by other means.

i agree with everyone and am simply saying that at the moment-maybe there are a few other issues goijng on that are slightly more important like -survival !

With regard to Harwood, the clubs policy is generally only to announce things when they are definate-and did'nt the Bristol site say '-likely' to go through on friday,so the club would hardly have announced it yesterday !
