Whos' Next for the Managerial Hot Seat?

Recommended Posts

Steve Jones is on about a grand a week at Hornchurch, they have pots of money, Borgy knows Billericay too well and with that info would never return, my guess is that we will end up with some "also ran" .

Dave Greene has resigned as Heybridge manager and is going to live abroad which rules him out. Parker as stated above, looks like going to Welling. George Borg is first team coach at Hornchurch. Steve Jones? No chance. Whoever it is, please god don't let it be Howard Wilkinson!!

Always up for a beer and a footie chat.

I think Alan Devonshire would do a good job for our club. This is from a Spurs Fan promoting an ex-hammer.

George Borg has signed a contract with HFC for next season and will be the clubs 1st Team Coach......

Steve Jones will one day make a very good manager and it is my hope that he will eventually manage HFC.....in the present....he'll score 25 goals for us next year on our way into the connie carve up....!

There must be two George Borg's then (obviously!), because on 10th May George Borg was confirmed as Boreham Wood Manager after being caretaker boss at the end of last season. This is confimed by both the Boreham Wood website and nonleaguedaily.com. It's very unlikely that he would leave a job days after becoming manager.

I hear that Heybridge will annouce their manger today, Calder was not on the interview list of 4.

Maidenhead have annouced their new manager.

Mark Jenkins (ex BTFC) has resigned from Southend Manor. Could he be a candidate for the BTFC job ????

Paul Parker must be off John Mason's christmas card list after critising the pitch at Billericay which stopped Chelmsford playing the passing game - source Non League web site.

Whilst I think there's a case for appointing a young upcoming manager I would rather go for somebody who's managed at this level before. HOWEVER, it would be good to see a young hopeful come in as assistant or coach. Reallistically if the money isn't there we shouldn't go chasing an expensive manager. Whoever it is I think we'll have to be taking a long term view of it, given that he is likely to have to build a team almost from scratch. One positive is that it'll bring a bit more interest to preseason & the opening weeks of the league campaign which will hopefully translate to more people through the gate.

The intriguing quote in the Echo recently suggested that at least "two well known former football league players" were candidates for the job caught my eye and knowing Rod Moore to be an Arsenal fan, how about one of these ex-Gunners to end up at New Lodge, all of whom I believe have managed at non-league level in recent years: Richie Powling, Perry Groves, Graham Rix or Martin Hayes? Having said that, my money would be on Alan Devonshire - used to working with presumably a low budget in the Premier at Maidenhead and an ex-Hammer, making him instantly popular with many Ricay fans of that persuasion.
