Whos' Next for the Managerial Hot Seat?

Recommended Posts

Plenty of managers out there....

Recently resigned:

Alan Devonshire (Maidenhead)

Paul Parker (Chelmsford)

Bill Williams (Welling, may have retired)

Also in the reckoning imho:

Liam Cutbush (ex Heybridge)

Paul Clark (who? according to the Echo)

I'm sure there's a few others out there.....

I dont think you will be able to say at this stage who might be the new manager. Although Billericay is a reasonably high profile club in non league circles what would deter a potential manager would be the finances available to them which at this stage appear to be minimal. Rather than a 'big' non league name therefore you will be more likely to attract an up and coming manager.

Every manager that resigns or is sacked, will be viewed with interest. Parker has said he wants to stay in the Doc Martens. Liam Cutbush would be a good possibility, never heard of Bill Williams. Paul Clark is an ex Saarfender and Gillingham player, not sure if he's had any mangerial roles. Maybe we'll get Jeff King!!!!!!!!!!

i reckon that parker is favourite but i think that cutbush would be a good choice..i dont know too much about him but the people who do seem to hold him in decent regard

the important thing is that we install someone relatively quickly so that they have a chance to get some of the players they want for next season. also the new man needs to have confidence that he will have a budget from the first day to the last day of the season so that we can plan sensibly. this is the most important thing who ever is in charge

Bill Williams was in charge of Kingstonian/Dover at the beginning of this season.

I thought Parker had already joined Welling? Kingy, it might be! You need the money!!!

Paul Clark, I don't know much about.

Devonshire? Hmmm...

Whoever is appointed manager it is vital that they have had experience in the Ryman Premier, its no good anyone from Football League or Doc Martins its a different game there, the problem we will have is attracting quality managers as we are not the big fish we used to be and what will next years budget be ? I guess Gary knows all this and has made his decision, he has taken a lot of stick on this site , a lot unfounded but I hope he goes on to prove that he can manage given the right tools. Good Luck Gary..

I'll do the job - lol

Hehe, I'm doing quite well in CM4, and as you all know, I'm more than willing to move to Billericay!

I would be cheap too, just give me unlimited free Guinness, and I'll come over! (Or maybe that would be to expensive for the club... )

And I actually have a basic training certificate in Norway, what we call "A-kurs"...

Bet you guys wouldn't have guessed that!

Don't know much about the names mentioned here, but as long we get some who achieves promotion next season, I would be satisfied...

Strange how none of you have gone for George Borge

I salute your common sense, Of all the names available at the moment I would think Paul Parker offers the best long term "building for the future" possibilities his Chelmsford sides always appeared to play the right way with good built in habits

In truth you need some one with money to buy in and bring in their own manager

Your clubs perception as "iffy" in financial terms may well restrict both the recruitment of manager/coach and players for next season

What!ever I wish you well

I think Gary Calder's resignation leads to the question: should the chairman now resign. Who in their right mind would want to manage the club after the second half of last season? What future plans are there for the club? I am increasingly concerned at Rod Moore's often echoed philosophy "I'm running a business here!" - for whose benefit Mr Chairman?

George Borg would be welcomed by the fans and players. By why should he return to the club if the financial situation still hasn't been resolved? Any new manager would want resources for new players and a commitment to maintain the funds. The club has no ties with local youth football - any promising young players will go unnoticed by Billericay Town. The question is should the chairman resign?

I dunno lads, all this speculation but remember, a manager needs a cash injection to build a team and if that isn't forthcoming, who will want to come?

I take it that Gary left because (once again) the team had to be sold 'cause we overspent? That would make the 2nd season in a row that has happened, so what will be different next season....A lesson that we all must hope has been learned.

Don't get me wrong here, I am not knocking anyone for ambition. But it has to be the right players for the affordable price...

Its all about getting the budget right for the season not just part of it, relying on cup runs should be a bonus and if they dont happen you dont lose out, My guess is that last season we got the figures wrong and had to bail out players, this is the Chairman and Directors job to get that right if they dont I ask the question, SHOULD THEY RESIGN NOW ? Will they do the same again next season ?

I would take Pual Parker as he is a big name as a layer adn may bring popel thourgh the gates on the basis of that but he resigned from Chelmsford on the basis of lack offunds for the coming season so after our closing half to the season i dotn think he would want to come here. I think that would apply to most mamangers as they wouldnt want to come to a club with a lack of money.

As for Snowsill they shoudlnt be on the playing staff let alone be the managers

Shame Borgs stayign at Wood as he already knows the club and the players but of course as he knows the club he woud know the clubs dire finaces v.well and probably would want the job as a result

How about Steve Jones currently doing a coachign course at Hornchurch so he woudl ahve some kind of ability as a coach
