When was the last time......

joseba says we need a goal scorer , well i totally agree but to get one will cost an arm and a leg , infact we probably need two well proven goal scorers to help this club move on but who would come to us when there is no cup interest left just a dog fight to stay up . The team can play football and good football but we also need to stop leaking pathetic goals before we start scoring more goals , no point in scoring 4 when we could leak 5 . Up the Gate .

Blimey hartsdown fan-you're beginning to sound like me -not recommended i assure you.

I just decided not to go there this season, and have given up on the defence for this season (to be fair-injuries have not exactly helped have they )

Whilst i am increasingly taking to Yorath, it worries me that he seems to be 'forward thinking',as opposed to concentrate on defence first -which Ashby did seem to be making progress on

I think we are missing Louis Smith at the back in all honesty , when BA was manager he was getting the best out of the back 4 with Danny Young proving to be the find of the season . We really should have got someone in at the start of the season to play up front with the passion and flair that we miss . Don`t get me wrong i am certain that TY will turn the club around but we all know he has a hell of a job on his hands and i can`t critisize him at all for what he`s doing now and with his experience and knowledge he should get us back to something like what we have had in the past . Up the Gate .

Just in case anybody's wondering - the last time we went out of all the cups in the first round without any kind of group stages being involed was 77/78. That was FAC, FAT, SLC and KSC. As a 'bonus' we also failed to reach the final of the Kent Senior Shield too - that was played on a round robin basis pre-season.

During 86/87 we went out of all competitions at the first hurdle but the SLC and Eastern Floodlight Cup had groups we failed to qualify from.

Back in 24/25 we went out of the KSC and KLC at the first hurdle but they were the only two cups MFC took part in. Similar thing happened the season before - out of the only three cups we were involved in at the first attempt.

So I think this season could be considered our worst ever in the cups - going out of four in just four games. During 77/78 the Southern League Cup first round was played over two legs.

Glad to see nothing changes, give some people a little authority and it goes to their heads. I would like nothing more than to start supporting again but it's hardly a welcoming atmosphere down there, especially if you have a mind of your own-just ask Barry Ashby.

No SSS not Keith's enforcer just sticking up for a team that doesn't need someone who doesn't watch the games saying they are very poor.

Though I don't think swearing should be banned at games completely, to be fair to the club there are now notices at the ground regarding the use of swearing continually and that fans will be spoken too if considered excessive.

Re: Iris' and vic's comments....

If you chuck out everyone who swears, our attendance will be down to double figures. Down the Coffin End, following numerous appalling decisions from the referee, there were so many fans hurling abuse at the ref. We all swear out of frustration... are we all going to be chucked out!?

If you want to rid swearing from the terraces, it has to be removed from the pitch first. If the players and managers get away with it (as they frequently do), why should the fans be criticised? If you really do feel offended by my calling the ref a "tw@t", then please approach me and I'm sure we can discuss it rationally.

Due to comments from people that they did not wish to sing with the choir due to "the amount of swearing", we did cut down considerably, replacing every swear word with a "beep". Yet this made no difference; these so-called would-be singers continued not to sing. Yet, I still feel our swearing is a lot less than it was. But if you want to chuck us all out for swearing, Hartsdown will be like a morgue.

DM, I agree with you to a certain extent - I guess I want to have my cake and eat it.

We all get frustrated and I think its understandable for the odd expletive to slip out, but I feel that there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, and there are certain words or phrases that have no place.

If the ref is lousy (which they invariably are), I barrack him usually without swearing (using a 'smart' insult sometimes works, but sometimes doesn't), but I certainly don't wait for a quiet moment before hollering out 'referee, your a f**king tw*t' etc.

A few weeks back, their keeper went to take a kick and as he approached the ball, someone yelled out at the top of their voice 'c**t' in order to try and put him off - needless to say it didn't work. Thats not good, and it shows a level of social ignorance in my opinion. I realised these views would make me unpopular with some.

And I agree that it should apply to the players (although not that it needs to 'start' with the players before the terraces). But I would counter that with asking you what you think the reaction might be to the referee for sending off one of our players for using foul and abusive language?

Would it be to tell him he's an incompetent tw*t?

Anyway, I don't want to turn it in to a big deal, it just frustartes me that's all.

I understand your points ITH. But, as we have all been made aware of the apparent new "Respect" campaign and the legislations that come with it, I feel we would have no complaints if one of our players was punished for foul / abusive language. Provided, of course, that it applied to both teams.

I would like to point out that mindless shouts of "c**t", I do not condone. But, it would be hypocritical of me to criticise those who insult the ref following a series of poor decisions because I know, out of frustration, I am the first to do it.

I guess this debate will always rage on.

As for IS, I guess we might as well close this debate, until one of us is proved right on the 27th wink

it appears we've been more interesting in surviving multiple rounds in court as opposed to in the cups... tbh, surviving this season with all this financial madness would mean more to me than winning any of the cups
