When was the last time......

I disagree CE, at times we have played really well without any luck, Saturday for instance. My point is you can't say the team is very poor when you haven't seen them play.

Oh come on everyone. We knew what we had when we started out this season.Since then we've had some good news off the field & we've acquired some decent additions to the squad. We're in a position in the league that was a personal target of mine & I'm sure if we could retain that position most of us,if not all of us would be thinking that this season, despite everything had been a success.

We've played 20 games, haven't got too many points but we have done well in most of those games without getting anything. We haven't been "thrashed" week in week out. In fact apart from from 3 matches that we've been beaten(2-0 & 3-0) in we have only lost by the odd goal. We certainly aren't the whipping boys others thought we were going to be.

What we need now is to start turning some of those good performances into points. Enough of "We lost but we were really unlucky & played well".

We have two weeks without a game after Saturday & therefore we need 3 points on Saturday without fail. Time we turned things around.

A little more concentration on the part of the players,do away with the needless fouls we are committing & get at teams rather than having to play the game under pressure.

Telegraphing situations more, more running off the ball, into spaces, be more lethal in front of goal. Shoot on sight & stop being shy in & around that area.

We need to play a full 90 minutes thinking we are one goal down.Even if we actually DO go a goal up at anytime we must continue to think that way & play accordingly.

These players are improving bit by bit but now is the time to get that result we have been missing out on.

Carshalton may be flying high but they are just another 11 players at the end of the day & our players should go into the game thinking that defeat is out of the question.

This week we must go all out to get the 3 points & show everyone that this team is not a team to be underestimated despite our lowly position.

To the players : Make this our early Christmas present.Defeat must be "out of the question" on Saturday.Think that way you players, think that way & play like your lives depended on it.Then sit back & enjoy your two weeks off.

Finally,to all those stay-away supporters. Please get to the games & show your support. For whatever reasons you have for staying away put them aside & get to the actual match & get behind the lads & financially help the club out.

Well said Tony, we all knew we would suffer this season but IMO we are doing better than most thought, including the bookies.

Agree with you that we need to start turning these games around as its nearly there but not quite.

There is one thing that is really missing from the team at the moment and that is someone who can put that bl00dy ball into that bl00dy net.

If we can get that person then we will turn the corner. Last night before we went 2-1 down we had the chances to open up a 2 goal cushion on Rob's team who would have then capitulated.

Solve this bl00dy goalscoring problem and it will all come right.

Not going to mention names, but was a couple of sour incidents in the first half in which a fan was threatened with expulsion following criticism of the referee. I believe said 'steward' (I use the term loosely) even dragged Piper down to the Coffin End. It's typical: we get a bit of good news, followed by a relatively good crowd (including some old faces returning), and it's almost like the club wants to force them away again.

Two points to note here:

At risk of sounding repetitive, its not the criticism, its the abject and pointless use of offensive language. If the reason for the ejection is for when I believe it was, then good. It has no place at a 'family club'. (And as for their keeper, I should have made an official complaint as I had to sidestep my 9 year old daughter's questions regarding his remarks about threesomes, clearly audible at the side of the pitch).

The second is that I only ever see Keith Piper when he rolls up next to me & mine blowing cigarette smoke over the kids - That's arrogance. Appart from that, I have no strong feelings on the guy either way.
