I'm looking forward to having 3-4 key players returning in the next couple of weeks, the guy's who say our season is dead are probably right. I see it as its time to be patient see what effect the returning players do and whether we see improvements. If we are still 17th by the end of the season, then we all know that is not acceptable.

I notice that Sherwin Stanley has returned to 1893, in my view he is worth a goal a game at our level and should be looking to attract a quality proven striker such as him to our first team. Him and Ellis upfront would certainly be a Sharp+Heath (Everton) like strike force.

Gaz needs coaching in channeling his energy in a more calculated way, a good player, but I agree with the headless chicken comment to a large degree.

Unacceptable start to the game v's Thamesmead though.

New ETFC manager speaks?

What are you on about?

And if Sherwin was just watching cos his game was cancelled then thats a shame, I was raising my slim hopes.

Looks like you'd challenge everything I have to say as it does not agree 100% with your view. I do laugh at the intrecate highlighting of every word in a particular sentence to find something to comment on. Very Scientific.

As stated elsewhere, we don't believe Stanley has left Brentwood.
HOWEVER, what about Leon Archer - forward 7 goal in 20 games - just released by The Wood.

Now, he could be this weeks signing !!

Come on EU.

If you re-read your posting you said you were looking forward to having 3 or 4 players returning in the next couple of weeks. Sounded like manager speak so the innocent comment was made. I thought you would have taken it as a compliment.

As I have said before, the world is full of opinions and if we don't agree on something, then that's life.

Andy-I am truly flattered, but the competition to become new gaffer at our club is immense, the quality of debate and opinions of everybody on here just leaves us spoilt for choice.

Your right, everyone has opinions, it may not come across well but I respect all opinions, but am trying to put across a different light to our season and club position to date.

Yep I felt we ought to demand 6pts from Thamesmead and Ilford. But its not arriving. Liverpool have drawn 0-0 with Fulham, Stoke and the Hammers are top of the league but they are't gonna win the league, thats football.

If we are only 10pts off last seasons total, then that can be made up bearing in mind the collapse in results post new year last season. Thats something to aim for.

Players will be returning and Jones/Dauti for Hall/Dauti could give us a better balance in midfield.

We need strikers though, Hammond is a reserve standard stand in, in my opinion.

Leon Archer is an excellent suggestion.

Ellis may be available this weekend and not long for Stevenson to return either, lets hope the returning players make a difference, otherwise you doom gloomers (I don't mean to offend, just a figure of speach) will be proved right.

I was choked to read the posting on Noel Ashford and am hoping its incorrect. Along with Tony Jennings he was the best player to have graced Southbury Road I ever saw. Hopefully someone can confirm Noel is OK

Thats a bold statement.

Yeah & if we go unbeaten for the rest of the season we could win the league, that is something else to aim for!

I think you mean realists!

Noel Ashford was one of the legendary Enfield FC performers, along with S King, N Ironton, C Richards, Savage, Burton, Jacobs, Barrett, Furlong, Bailey, Dave (name escapes me, c/half), just to mention a few. Add McCluskey and the late Dave Jones and they should all be awarded an Enfield OBE for services.

I remember Dave Jones being remembered after his death with his wife being a guest of honour for a game and a minutes silence, obituary in a program etc.

I think the fall out of EFC has created a strangers environment from those of the past, if Noels loss is true then we are all shamed (1893 as well) for not having some sort of remembrance for him. If this is so, then it must never happen again to any other future case, although we hope that does not occur to quickly or regularly.
