LIVE COMMENTARY: MFC vs Staines Town .....

It really was just two silly mistakes that cost usa today. We pretty much matched them all round and deserved at least a point. Some applause at the end showed that this was also the general consensus. Also quite a good 'buzz' in the last few minutes as we pushed for a deserved leveller...more passion from the terraces than there has been lately.

Steve summed it up really, two poor mistakes from Curtis Robinson cost us the game and IMO Robinson and Quain aren't good enough to be playing in this team we should've started with Gregs and Masade. Margate played Staines of the pitch at times in the second half and I left Hartsdown Park wondering how we didn't win!

Heybridge Swifts and Hendon lost to day which is good but the down side being Harrow beat Horsham 6-1 and Ramsgate winning at Ashford.

Up the gate!

Echoing previous sentiments, really. Two poor defensive mistakes (I know the first one was Robinson, not too sure who was the culprit for the second one) cost us the game. Although, ultimately, in that first hour, we simply were not good enough. Created nothing going forward.

However, last half hour was a marked improvement and, at times, Staines really were hanging on and seemed more than happy just to clear their lines and re-group for another onslaught. Robinson and Quain both not good enough, we were far too weak down that left side. Don't see what Gregs has done wrong not to play - he's certainly a better left-back than Robinson.

The positives? Well, we did show some fight in the last half-hour and, on another day, could certainly have got something out of the game. Thought the new centre-back did ok and, again, was very impressed with Ohakam. Big, strong central midfielder who could well add that bit of bite we have been missing. Also, the new centre-forward looked lively, making some good runs. Would like to see a bit more of him. When we changed things round and had Savage and Eb on the pitch, Staines really did have their backs to the wall at times.

A shame that other results went against us and the table isn't making for great reading but, ultimately, our fate will be decided by how we do against our fellow strugglers. Onwards and upwards!

What annoys me most and a few others is when goal kicks are taken , everyone congregates to the left side of the pitch , you should have Stubbs or Ebe sitting out wide on the wing waiting for that timed ball , this would give them the space needed to get in quick to cross the ball in or even have a go at goal , instead we all stand tight and very quickly lose the ball .

I think Im missing something here, I never saw the determination the side had in the early part of the season, and not sure the new striker (healey) was what we need this late on, think he could have been better than the late great MAX POWER but NOT in my opinion. Dan Stubbs looked lively when he came on and No 4 and No 6 looked competant and ready throughout the game. Curtis did seem to have a howler today, but lets not throw him to the lions just yet. Last season we would have ripped this Staines side apart and shown them their exit early on, but if they are in the top half of the league you have to take heart in the fact that in the second half paricularly we made them look ordinary.. Onwards and hopefully upwards - cmon you blues.

Your right mate and I cant belive this has not been sorted, lets get some wide players into our game, pull the midfield apart a bit and play some football in the space thats makes it so.
