Molesey 2-2 Merstham (Merstham win 4-2 on penalties)

Molesey took the lead early on when Liam O'Leary fired a strike into the bottom corner after a goal mouth scramble.

Merstham equalised mid way through the second half

Merstham then took the lead two minutes into extra time with a back post header

Then in the 121st minute Molesey captain Steve Brown curled one in from 20 yards

Then Molesey were just the unlucky team when it came to the penaltes

Merstham apparently put out a full strength squad, so Molesey keeping pace wth them can only be considered a good thing!

More to the point, the equaliser only followed an incorrect offside decision on one of our forwards right up the other end. Livid, I was!

Yeah, only 2 or 3 missing so it was a good showing by your boys. We can't seem to string two good performances together at the moment. Beaten by Cove then beat Folkestone Invicta then had to battle to squeak by Molesey. Next up...Met Police!

I'm not taking away anything from Merstham (who can add a record to their history books - The first team to beat Molesey in a competitive penalty shoot-out in our 55 year history!) I just feel that some of your players may have taken the Moles a bit lightly until you went a goal down, after that you dominated the game and it was all down to our defence!

I must say Kroons they didn't take us lightly last week,I spoke to Mick before the game during the game and after the game, and I know from the reaction of the Merstham players and management team at end of the game they were gutted,ok apart from the result Merstham have become a very together unit and they were hurt, not suprised they won at the weekend because they are a good side with a great attitude.

Merstham Match Report

"This they effectively did until the closing moments of the game when a goalmouth scramble ended up with Merstham skipper Craig Vernon putting through his own net and a penalty shootout was assured."

Strange way to report on a goal scored from the edge of the box!

I think we were all too busy shouting at the lino to care but it did flick off Vernon apparently.
