On a bitterly cold and windy afternoon Margate came away with a much needed win against a dogged, but in the end an outplayed Sevenoaks Town, who played in an unusual all lavender kit.

Paul Axon, who looked dangerous on the right all game, swung a cross into the area in the 3rd minute which Shane Brown failed to get his head too by inches with the goal at his mercy. Sevenoaks then broke away and a loose ball bouncing around in the Margate area was latched onto by Stuart Brockman who hit his shot past Alex Krunic to put his side one up.

Axon then put another cross over on the right and saw it come of a post the ball then coming to Ollie Gray whose fierce shot ricocheted of a defender for a corner. In the 19th minute the impressive Joe Taylor, pushed a through ball to Brown whose well struck shot was pushed around the post by Jamie Robinson the Sevenoaks keeper. However another great cross by Axon on 33rd minutes found Shane Brown, who this time made no mistake and headed into the net. Then in the 40th minute Axon, on the right, found Taylor o the edge of the area who threaded through a delightful pass to Brown near the penalty spot, but with the goal beckoning he completely miskicked and the chance was lost.

An inspirational substitution was then made by Mark Weatherley bringing on Olti Keci for Elliott Payne at halftime. Kecki seemed to give the midfield more bite, and it was his tenacity in winning the ball in the 49th minute that created Margate's second goal. He then pushed it through to Taylor who then ran into the area before finding Johnny Greaves who hit it into the net via a slight deflection. Brown then went on a run into the area in the 60th minute but saw his shot saved by the keeper.

A minute later free kick by Ryan Harker fell to Axon on the edge of the area but his well struck shot went straight into the keepers arms. Then captain Dan Stokes who had marshalled his defence well all afternoon, bought the ball out of defence and found Taylor who slotted the ball throught to Brown who then hit a shot into the side netting.

Margate increased their lead in the 78th minute when a cross by Greaves looked like it was going to be collected by the Sevenoaks keeper but Joe Taylor had other ideas and stole in to pinch it away and roll the ball into the net. Sevenoaks then had their first chance of the second half when Ian Brooke struck the ball well on the edge of the area but Krunic made a fine save. Margate then took their foot of the gas and in the last minute a cross came over from Edward Willoughby and eventually fell too Billy Simpson who fired home from close range.

Team: Krunic, Stokes, Gibson, Harker, Gray, Treadwell, Axon, Taylor, Greaves, Brown (Lewis 84th min), Payne (Keci 46th min)
