Membership Renewal

Another thing, I would like to eradicate the peurile mud slinging and arguements on here.

There are bigger and more important issues to debate, especially if MYFC pull out in 12 weeks time. At the moment, unless there is an extraordinary surge in interest, MYFC will pull out, leaving a massive financial hole, which the club will certainly struggle to fill.

Leave the abuse and personal comments to the pub and confguide, and get the old timers back on here having healthy debate and promulgating serious and intelligent discussions on the way the club can move on, should the MYFC thing fail.

Those kinds of figures would certainly help Gaz, albeit they wouldn't be a cure-all for the current monthly losses, but my fear is - as LG says - the relatively low and historically apathetic Fleet fan base.

For sure, you could bolster those numbers with MyFC members, but when even the Society itself is unsure if it can claw back 5,000-10,000 members come renewal time, I'm not sure - wearing my pessimistic hat - that an EUFC-generated scheme would return the kind of figures we need.

Which is not an excuse for not trying it, however.

I know Digitalis reads this, I'm sure he will be considering something along these lines already.

If and when Brooks pulls the plug, we will need an income stream of some sort already in place, as the club clearly does not generate enough from gate receipts, sponsorship and merchandise sales to fund the playing, coaching and management budget.

A lot of Fleet & MYFC members are concerned about the rate of membership renewal for this upcoming February, and so we all should be, but was it or is it not a true, that money has been put aside for next season, and the one after from the original uptake budget? or did i dream that?

The memberships that have been taken up for two years or more, should have been carried over,or would that be a incorrect assumption?

Is it not also the case that a fair few members joined through out the year? This being the case, a lot of memberships will be up for renewal, spread out over next year. Meaning the required membership numbers could still be met but not necessarily all in one lump.

Not being a member of MYFC, I am not privy to a most of facts.so my assumption and lack of knowledge could put me well wide of the mark!

As far as I know the money from two, three-year and more memberships was put aside, but bearig in mind that was only to the tune of about 1,500-2,000 memberships, I'm not sure that money will make a great deal of difference in the big picture.

Sal, I can't wholly agree with this as the inference I get is that Karl tends to assume that people are disaffected with MyFC for the same reasons that he thinks it will never work. People joined MyFC for a very wide variety of reasons ranging from 'pure MyFC' to 'glorified supporters club'. I hate the way that MyFC have banned and disaffected quite a wide range of dissenters for just trying to be constructive whilst holding a different viewpoint as to how the Society should work. At present, I will re-join if there is no other alternative to positively support the Club. I think HG on here has got some good ideas and if MyFC fails I will not be laughing up my sleeve like I suspect Karl probably will. Hope you are well and miss all the fun we had on off-topic. Myself, Cullen, Chris1979 et al try to keep it going but it's a struggle!

I think it would be logical in the current climate to expect a drop in the number of people renewing, I will renew in the next few weeks as I want to continue to support the club in that way, even if I don't get to see many games these days. Alot of us said at the beginning that it would be interesting to see how the MyFootballClub site develops in the longer term, will we get a core who will continue to support and help with the development of the club or will we get a financial crisis?

Just a quick note Gaz

I am working on the retention team right now for Myfc and things aren't looking as bleak as we originally thought. I am really optimistic that we can pull in enough members to keep EUFC on solid ground. Anyway, me and several others are working on it as we speak. I know your are anti Myfc, but our goals right now are the same, approximately, and let's hope with a little bit of work, we can have Ebbsfleet on solid financial ground.

Hi, Dan.

Whilst I do have reservations, and remain skeptical over Myfc, I do appreciate the great benefits they have brought to the club.

Ptt has, and always will be the sore point.

Without that I and many others would be more welcoming.Let it not be said that I do not enter into civilised and intelligent debate on here, unke other on both sides of the fence.

My preference is for a watered down compromise, with no ptt.

Maybe it's an unimportant distinction, but still one that should be considered, but even if the operator (Will Brooks et al.) decide to pull the plug as operator, that doesn't mean an end to MyFC (the society). The society would still have the right to continue operating in whatever way they see feasible and desirable. So a re-organization along the lines that Gaz and others have mentioned is still a possibility. Let's face it, the website the operator provides can be replaced if MyFC Ltd. decides to quit. The main thing for all of us who care primarily for the club is to get as many subscribers as possible to renew (or new ones to join). We need to keep supporting the club financially while the CEO and Chairman continue the good work they've been doing to make the club stronger, more efficient, and more cost effective.

Rob - couldn't agree more. I'm lucky enough to get to see the Fleet more often than you but it's the worldwide positivity that (hopefully) will keep this thing going!

You said this on it UU. Now it's all going to pot you've suddenly changed your tune.

Nice digging...

nice digging where pat?....I ignored hannahs somewhat embarrassing post (as did everyone else grin) as what she quoted is entirely consistent with all of my posts on the myfc/ebbs subject as indeed I have been since day one...all the abuse in the world on here will not change that...

sorry...smile

martin....what you suspect and what I actually believe are two entirely seperate issues....I won't presume to tell you what you think and it would be more civil of you to do likewise...many thanks...

hope you enjoy your football tomorrow...

You're giving true Fleet supporters gip here for giving in to MyFC when a few months ago you were telling us to swallow our pride. What's wrong with unearthing your contradictory views? The only person embarrassing themselves here, is you.

By the way, my name has a capital letter at the beginning and there should be an apostrophe between the h and the s.

If your last post is true then I think I speak for everyone in saying good riddance...

Up the Fleet... see you all at Cambridge. smile
