Potters Bar Town

Duke of York

Recommended Posts

The online poll on the Potters Bar Town website asks the following question:

"Which Team would you most like to beat in the league this season?

* Brentwood

* Wingate & Finchley

* Leyton

* Waltham Forest

* Waltham Abbey"

I can't believe Enfield Town FC are not mentioned in the list - Maybe they assume they've already got Saturday's three points in the bag!

Perhaps they can feel confident as they have just won their last 2 games, including a win at Brentwood on Tuesday in the League Cup.

They have also just signed 4 new players.

It ain't going to be easy.

When is it ever easy at Pots Bar for Town ?

Plenty of support needed for this "local" match.

Agree 100%, Potters Bar are showing some solid form of late plus they are at home. We need our boys out the traps sharpish for this one and disciplined too, the management have to get the organisation right too.

We need noisy and numerous support so that we play our part too.

Should be a good game looking forward to it.

I understand there were some bizarre formations employed when PBT went down to 10 men, I look forward to EU's match analysis.

Spent the afternoon at the Glassworld Stadium watching Histon demolish Oxford United 5-2..."Not bad for a village team".... a very enjoyable afternoon.
Three sides of their ground is made up of the same covered terracing at Brimsdown, with the whole of one side fitted with seats between both corner flags, behind both goals there is standing covered terracing between the corner flags very simple but very effective, something for us to maybe aim for at the QE stadium.

Histon are run by John Beck are'nt they?

Which means Oxford Utd were met with a damp changing room, no heating or hot water and the corner of the pitches had overgrown grass or were very watered to hold up balls into the corners for cross's. But sounded like a great game and performance by Histon, but how the Oxford have fallen!!!!!

On our match? Well. The first half was a to me to you to me to you, full of tackles, mis-placed pass's and two defences that coped very easily with anything either attacks offered, which was very little.

Second half was much the same, no real intregate pass's, we were missing out our midfield and pumping the ball forward in more hope I think than constructive play.

P'Bar scored a very good first goal a pacey run down the right ad a well weighted cross to an unmarkable forward run at the far post for a decent finish, no complaints there. Our equaliser was an excellent elivery from a corner and a textbook header from Chris Wild into the top right corner.

However after that P'Bar went down to 10 men, Hervey was on for Habinger Grant and Darren Reid pushed up right mid, it looked good for a bit but P'Bar seemed to find space in midfield and began playing some balls to the pacey strikers they had from which they scored from one.

In all a messy game, neither side could put more than two pass's together. I thought we deserved a point but if a team had done enough for 3pts it was P'Bar. I thought our back four looked very able, Keogh, Wild and Reid loked great at the back and Bastian played well too. Marshall, Hahn, Grant and Hall were ineffective I thought, Hammond worked hard, but was on his own and Dauti provided the usual energy with no back up.

I can understand the first substitution where Grant came off Hahn was centralised and Reid pushed up, but that left a a weakness at right backwhere Harvey came on and thats where P'Bar found a whole to score from. Harvey is a proven failed defender for us this season with others, and the break up of the starting back four proved costly.

Tickner on for Hammond was baffling, Hammond was our only available striker, so unless he was injure or just exhausted I can't see why he came off, esecially for Tickner whose first contribution was to luckily avoid a red card for an attrocious challenge after 20 seconds of coming on.

We flirted a little around the box but not convincing enough that we would score.

To be fair, Stewart had Hughes, Jones,Stephenson, Crace, Deane, Allen and Remy unavailable to him and he/we were probably a Remy or Jones away from gaining a point or indeed 3pts.

Your right Gazza, 5 wins from the next 6 is my theory otherwise I too will resign to our season having nothing more than some form of Middx Cup to play for. We wont go down, we'll be a minimum mid table side.

When everyone is availale, I'd like to see Harvey and Ticner out of the squad and Bastian to prove himself again worthy of team selection, he did so yesterday.
