I believe that there is quite a difference between the England team and us. The England squad do not play together every week like our players do, so would require a friendly more than the players at STFC would do. Also, we have no new players to try out like Mr Capello does!

I think that this is a good chance to rest up the players and let Kev do his work (which he does so well) and try and get an extra player or two fit.

rwg if you are so worried that we don't have a friendly why don't you go to a training session and ask sweets why? also as to the england friendly why do the premier league managers not want their players to take part in an "uneccassary friendly"? all of them at the top of the game and probably at a higher level than you ever aspired to, and try and answer this with dignity you can do that can't you?

It would be interesting to see how many 'injured' players there would be if they brought in the rule that says if you pull out of an international match you are unable to play in the next domestic one.

is everybody on here just one person, only cos most have the same feeble ideas about how football teams should be run.as i posed earlier, not having a friendly on the last free weekend didn't do anything for the team at all-so maybe you would have thought this time they would try one.

Wiz i have to take issue with you here ! I have frequently called for people not to get personal with you and to answer the points in your posts sensibly , but you are letting yourself down here by not only being personal about other posters but also the clubs manager ! now i do agree with you on a lot of points about Sweets but i dont think we can question his ambition ? Surely you dont leave Burnham reserves for Sloughs first team if you dont have ambition ? I remain unconvinced about Sweets but he has brought in the players he feels can do the job only to be very unlucky with injuries and an iffy suspension , i think we have got to see his "best" team have a good run of games then pass final judgement ? Granted it needs to happen a.s.a.p ! If they cant hack it then they will have had every chance and i dont feel anyone will be able to complain if we call for heads to roll ? Lets hope it doesnt have to come to that !

Frankly Tom i am not bothered wether you read it or not , i dont read your " company man " replies to posts you feel arent toeing the company line , if you get my drift ? Blind optomism may work for you mate but theres a few around the club that need to wake up and smell the coffee !! ................
