Cannot Believe.........

Trouble is I am right-most decent sides would have arranged a friendly-don't forget Evans only played one game in weeks-so you cant tell me the defence is now sorted after one poor result against Bracknell. And what about a chance to try some permutations and also draft a few more youngsters in to have a look. All sounds to me( and others I expect)a tad lazy or lacking in managerial skills ( guess you already know that though)

I believe that the chance to do some extra training, especially on set plays and getting the players to play as a unit would me more beneficial than playing a match and possibly having the confidence hit again. Also you have a lot less chance of losing players for later games through injury if they are training.

Of course, a training session will prbably incorporate a match as well, jus not infront of a crowd.

agreed, given that we've got 6 or 7 carrying knocks, a saturday spent on resting those who are battered and bruised, and working on set pieces - particularly since we've given away a few scrappy goals to set pieces in recent weeks - will be more beneficial than organising some means-nothing-friendly match which could dent our problems further.

Why should anyone get injured just cos its a friendly, they can do all their set piece training Tuesday and Thursday and have a run out Saturday-I must admit I did forget how often this bunch keep getting injured, is that down to a lack of match fitness with some of them or are they reluctant to play.

Also I keep forgetting( sorry my fault)that most of you younger posters on this site have no idea what running a senior football team is all about.

Sorry to butt in, but when Windsor had Simon Lane in charge we picked up an incredible amount of injuries. we kept saying we had a good side/squad and should be charging towards the play offs. We got rid of Lane and got Scotty in and we started to play as a team, got minimal injuries and nearly made those play offs from a starting position of 16th at the beginning of the year. I guess i am saying if you have the players the manager can make the difference and really change a side.

Wizard, you are more likely to get an injury in a friendly match as it is more competitive and played at a higher tempo than a match after training, you are also not playing against team mates, just an observation taken from experience. As a Windsor fan I know what you have been through in this case and it will get better, it just takes time and a little bit of luck.

thanks - saves me making that point.

Young I may be, but that's not to my detriment in this case. I just think that a week away from players in the south west division, which is notorious for big, lugging players and soggy pitches, which in turn are equally notorious for causing injuries, is no bad thing at the moment. It means that this week off is a welcome opportunity for Kevin to help those players of ours who are struggling.

Same old bitter and twisted Wizard (RWG) sticking the knife in the back of the management and slagging off the "younger posters" on this forum.

If you are so great and knowlegdable why did you not get the Burnham job when it came up? you did not get the Slough job either - is that because any chairman worth their salt can see through you, like the posters on this forum have.

And before you start having a dig at me remember I have proved you to be less than reliable with the truth before.

Why are England playing a friendly? A complete an utter waste of time if you ask me. The vast majority of the first eleven have been withdrawn before even joining the squad and another starter has picked up a serious injury in training. The reason is money. Chances are England will lose and some of the gloss from the positive start to the qualifying campaign will be immediately lost.

I think Slough would be better off having a match behind closed doors in training then some friendly. And with a squad of twenty odd it will be an opportunity for them all to get a decent run out.

Rwg has a point, even clubs at this level play friendlies midseason all the time even when they dont have Saturdays off.For example aylesbury played an incredible amount of games this season and still played friendlies. No one would seriously suggest playing injured players but what about youth, trialists even local leagues. I disagree that friendlies are always competive to the massive risk of players injuries.

I have to say that i agree with RWG. Having seen the fitness levels

of the Windsor players when they beat us, we are miles behind them in terms of match fitness, and that has been highlighted in the last ten minutes of the last few games when concentration has dropped. We dont have to play injured players in a friendly, but surely those fit plus a few youth would benefit from a run out?
