U18 v Dover

blue and white gate

Recommended Posts

For those of you who chose to stay in and watch arrsenal on tuesday night, unlucky, you missed a cracker.

Although margate lost the game eventually, it was a game that could have been sold to sky for all the excitement.

The game finished 7-6 to Dover in extra time but that does not tell the whole story. Margate were 3-1 and 5-1 up in the game in the first 90 minutes. Dover were bouyed by their supporters who outnumbered ours by 4 to 1 and never gave up even though it always looked like a Margate win until extra time.

Too many scorers to mention and with a scoreline like that you would assume bad defending. I would like to put a different tilt on it and say great forward play. It was a very enjoyable match with neither side really deserving to lose.

On this performance you can see why both sides remain unbeaten in the league so far.

Cup games don't count !! -concede as many as you want in cup games, as long as you score more than the opponents'but not in the league where defences win you championships.

Anyway, i have'nt mentioned it at all this season as i am being realistic.

Was sorry that BA left as he did seem to put priority on defensive play.

Bad luck U18's.

I'm not quite sure what you were doing to lose a 4 goal lead just the same !

Here is a very full and thorough report on the match courtesy of the Dover forum.

(it appears we did not let a 4 goal lead slip so i was incorrect above)

Sounds like it was one helluva night and one helluva game .

Never realised Margate had 5 ex-Dover u18's in their team.

No Alec Krunic in goal i note
