Just had word from our forum that KETTERING TOWN, yes KETTERING TOWN will be playing in the Ryman Premier next season.

 

I've got mixed feelings about this. Kettering's ground is not bad and it will be a good day out and piss up for you EFM guys but it's still a bloody long way to travel and Kettering will be more than a threat for the title than someone like Chelmsford. I'd have prefered a local derby with Chelmsford.

 

I reckon the Ryman league have wangled it to get Kettering in as their crowds are well over 1500 as a replacement for Aldershot rather than Chelmsford who get about 500.

I remember visiting them in I believe the Trophy one year, came to a replay at the park, pissed it down it did, and we lost.

At their place there was a really boshie steward/ess who was offended by coarse language. I believe this was an early run in with stewards by proto-efm! (beer boys etc) good fun, good day out.

"Call yourselves the poppies, you should be called the pansies" provided some relief during the replay.

I seem to remember the causing trouble at Stevenage a few years back. They held up play for about 20 minutes. So that suggests they do have a few boys. Bring it on I say.
