Well up until the announcement today about Kettering joining the Ryman you guys would have been clear favourites to go uo to Conference "proper" in August 2004. Now, all other things being equal, Mr King is going to have to spend a whole lot more of his loot to win the Ryman next season.

Everyone will want to be in the Alliance next season so some will settle for a top 8 finish. Others will want to fight for the Conference... as for Canvey, I don't care. Another season like the last would suit me, I found it exciting enough until the last game!

 

Just hope Kettering don't think it will be a walk in the park or they might not even get into the Alliance!!

Bottom of the Conference weren't they??? They won't get near the top, just like Sutton, Kingstonian, Hayes etc

Well, lets face facts, I doubt that there will be too many players wanting to stay at Kettering. That will put the club into the same boat as everyone else in the Ryman wont it.

Conference or even ex conference clubs have never frightened too many of the teams in the Ryman. Hayes are still here, so too is Kingstonian Sutton and Co.

There will be no scaremongering on this forum!!

Have to agree with the comments above. Kettering will be a strong outfit, if they can keep their present squad up to full strength. I would like to have seen Chelmsford join the Ryman, if for no other reason than it would have given us a decent local derby, now that Basilricay are there in name only.

 

Looks like Peter Foster is going to be another contributor to this forum who's only real reason for writing is to make snides about Jeff King and his financial backing of the club. Obvioulsy someone else who truly believes that all these other clubs only have gate receipts and Golden Goal competitions as their source of funding. At least at Park Lane the funding is transparent.

PETE, just ask Sutton, Kingstonian, Hayes fans etc. how easy they found the Ryman the last few years! Although it takes some confidence to predict things this early as we have found to our cost! Also don't know if you remember, but we owe you a thrashing for the way you treated us when we were last at your,ahem, ground.

Maybe the highest league gate of next term will involve us and our old local rivals. It may not be as high as the largest gate this year but I would be able to say that I had been to the biggest games in the Ryman Prem for the last 3 years running. Gravesend v Canvey, Canvey v Aldershot and maybe Kettering v Bedford (or a remote chance the other way around)

should be a good gate for you regardless... but as always its depends on the situation at the time... if its the first game of the season or boxing day it will be lumpy..and if its easter monday and your both in contention for the title or a vital top 6th to 8th place to secure conf south footy, then it could be something pretty special
