They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

 

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

 

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

My grandfather fought in flanders and he never spoke of what happened to anybody exept my grandmother . He was one of the lucky ones who came back many thousands of course did not including his two brothers . Also my great uncle was also very lucky to come home. I have their war medals at home with me as they have been handed down to me , I also have a 100 year old pocket watch which still works perfectly today The make on the face of it is Wurburg . I'm not clear as to how it came into my great uncle's posession ,I assume it came from his time in the conflict.

hearing some of the stories on the radio this morning made me realise how lucky we are nowadays that men and women in both world wars gave up their freedom so we could have ours.

My late Mum lost her 'baby-brother' in France after 'D-Day', and that was after he went through North Africa with the Eighth Army with Monty.
