Ah, don't be so parochial guys.

It's germans girls for me (especially from Dusseldorf)

As an intro to german blondes, how's about Juliane Werding singing a song I'm sure most of you know - but she's performing in german. It makes a decent song sound even better imo.

Look out for the lyrics: 'Ich such Dich in der Dunklelheit'

I'm sure we've all been there (especially in Dusseldorf)

Each to their own eh?

As for the two germans that I 'knew': One (Dagmar) was P.A. to the boss of Siemens, whilst the other (Goldine) was the ex-wife of the managing director for the local Krups.

Goldine's father was from Dresden. He invented the sun-roof for the Volkswagen back in the 30's - but his factory got bombed in the 'altercations' that ensued.

Goldine spoke german, french, spanish, portugese and english.

I met her on the beach at Hove, East Sussex. Good ol' Sussex by the sea eh? Not only did I stay with her in Dusseldorf on numerous ocassions, but also holidayed with her in her rented appartment in Calpe Spain, where I met Betty from Rotterdam.

She wrote books and stuff.

Dagmar was a friend of Goldine's.

It's little wonder that I like euro music of the 80's so much - but if they're all still alive those women are now in their 80's.

:-)

Went to Dusseldorf during our visit to see Spurs v Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup a couple of years ago. Good place, though the "old Dusseldorf" was much better than the newer side of the city.

Still not a scratch on Cologne though!

........And then there was Francesca from Italy.

I was walking home from Hitchin station after a hard day's graft on what was B.R. and was approached by a woman hovering near a bus stop who asked me for directions. She was intending to catch a bus into town, but as I knew her final destination (Hitchin Boys School) I offered to walk her there.

Turned out she was from Calabria (and I'd recently returned from a trip down to her parts (and Sicily)

One thing lead to another, and before I knew it I was staying in her flat in St.Johns Wood NW8.

She was employed by the Italian Embassy (as a teacher of Italian to second generation Italian nationals) and ergo had 'diplomatic numberplates' on her little Fiat 500.

I also got to stay with her in her home town just south of Reggio Di Calabria.

There's a moral in there somewhere.

TGE: The old part of Dusseldorf is tops.

Goldine's aunt (who was 82 at the time) was still 'sexually active' with her 42 year old lover (who was french)

Those german 'gals' are always at it.

Her aunt was something of a 'Grand Dame' who owned a jewellers on the Konigsalle in Dusseldorf, and she had the most guttural voice I've ever heard.

All that smoking I suppose.

:-)
