"The Little Pub Team from Essex"

Recommended Posts

The best things to come out of Essex are the Crouch Vale Brewery from South Woodham Ferrers and the Mighty Oak Brewing company from Maldon.

If the best pub in Hornchurch is a Wetherspoon's then the rest of Hx's pubs must be on a par with the 'Pound shops' in Basildon as regards to quality.

To be fair to 'Estuary Essex' we do have a chap in our pub crib team who originates from Dagenham - and he's nice enough.

:-)

So little wonder that there's two Wetherspoons in Peterborough......and in Stevenage :-)

As for the next televised FAC Round: I would have preferred Scunthorpe v Alfreton.

I was at the third QR game involving Retford United and Alfreton Town with a rather unflattering result towards Retford (1-3)

The Badgers were much the better footballing side but Alfreton had four 'massive' defenders who kept heading and booting away.

Incidentally the word 'massive' has connotations on posh.net as Barry Fry frequently uses said adjective. And boy does it annoy the 'usual suspects' on posh.net (some of whom have crawled their way onto here)

Fact of the matter is that Peterborough Utd only get on TV *because* of Barry Fry's continued presence at the club (as in "Barry Fry's Peterborough") but posh.netters are in denial of such.

Posh.net exists only to rid Peterborough United of Barry Fry - but they have little chance of that ever happening.

So they have to take their ire out on anyone who posts 'off message' on there.

Btw: NelsonPK is a 'prawn sandwich' type.

In actual fact he's a David (two brains) Willetts MP look-alike who likes to think of himself as a 'liberal' - but he'll readily ban anyone on posh.net who dares to poke fun of him and his clique.

His 'best mate' (Mitch) on posh.net is a hard line communist (imo)

Just shows what message boards (even football ones) would be like if *they* took over completely.

Ho Hum. It seems that this message board is rather quiet and lacking in banter, so best for me to go to my local and their pub quiz tonight.

Jonathan Ross's mum and step-father will be there (along with other assorted relations and friends) in our team.

I'll stick to shares message boards which are about 1000 times busier than this one.

Incidentally, supporting a football club or a 'share' are very similar in nature.

Anyway, if you want to see a bit of action try viewing the message board on http://www.advfn.com (but you'll have to register first)

Btw: There's plenty of football threads on there (If you know where to look)

.........And they're rather more active than those on here!

If it weren't for UU and Greg Dyke this board would have folded yonks ago.

Jonathon Ross's mum was SACKED from Eastenders after selling stories to the papers about the soap actors...

Use that FACT tonight in any answer, or quiz team name, and you'll be my hero (as the X Factor lot would say duck

ps, do not dare to bracket me in with UU...he is in a different league entirely and has found me out on many an occasion bawling bandit doah

UU is a law unto himself - but fair play to the 'old codger' :-)

Like his mate Barry Fry, he's a 'character' (shame that those on posh.net can't appreciate that FACT)

As for JR's mum: I think she's well aware of the history surrounding her son 'Paul' (who's real name is John) and how she told him of the Eastenders Xmas storyline (which he later divulged on LBC) when 'Pauline Fowler' read her last script.

Incidentally, Martha (JR's mum) refers to Jonathan as 'Jon Jon' so not as to confuse him with John (aka Paul)

Simple innit?

Anything else you want to know about the Ross family?

Btw: JR's sister is married to the nephew of Barry Norman (that film bloke) and they're both in our pub quiz team.

:-)

I'm still here - but only just. :-)

I'd rate the Ross family as....'A dynasty'

Just wait until JR's nieces hit the TV/Film screen.....But they're all young 'DDG' teenage blondes at the moment and are undergoing 'tuition'

Incidentally, we won the pub quiz thanks to me knowing the 'lowest prime number above 200'

To save you 'googling' - it's 211. :-)

My favourite Ross is 'Paul' because he's the only UK TV personality who's interviewed Amanda Lear.
