Hendon sponsored walk - 500 MILES!

And we moaned about a mere 27 last season....

Two Hendon fans are walking 500 miles over the course of the season to a variety of football grounds in order to raise money for their trust.

Bloody impressive. Here's their website if anyone feels compelled to congratulate them/tell them they're insane/donate a few quid.

Nice response from "Bomber" below for my donation - can anyone help determine who was the hapless defender who fell for his "Keeper's!" call? (see below)

Thanks for the donation, very very much appreciated. Once I get my pc to work, I'll update the thank-yous page.

Glad to see Slough are coming through their problems - I remember the year you went down, it didn't seem like you'd make it much further to be honest. Always liked going to Wexham Park, a proper ground (conversely I never liked going to Windsor). Actually, the year you went down, in about March you visited Claremont Road, and gave me my best ever memory of a Hendon game, where I won a corner for Hendon. Whoever your full-back was was shepherding a ball out for a goal-kick with nobody within ten yards of him. I shouted "keepers" (it'd never ever worked before), he paniced, fell over a bit, and then launched the ball out of the ground for a corner. When he looked round and seen his keeper rooted to his line, he asked "well, who f***ing shouted keepers then?". I apologised to him as he genuinely looked like he might cry (you'll be pleased to know we didn't score from the corner).

All the best with the walk to Didcot - if I can offer any advice, it's never stay in a Travelodge (that's just plain good life advice anyway) - worst nights sleep I've ever had. The Ramsgate walk went ok in the end - bit windy coming up to Kent International Airport (no, me neither). Result was worth it as well. 5-1 away from home in the rain, and the travelling 27 strong barmy army celebrated for minutes after the final whistle.

Right, all the best again, and good luck to all at Slough Town.

Cheers now

Paul
