Things going from bad to worse

Okay apologies first, this will be an eassay!!

Having followed the rebels for a very long time, from the days we had a ground, a team, and managment staff. And i have sat back in recent years and carried on watching and am finally here to say my peice. i understand that for many reasons the club is in this current state, alot of the reasons are from behind the scenes which is where they should stay.

I am here to talk about the team, selection and alot of other affairs that are currently being addressed.

i will start from the top, Management, Sweets has done nothing for the team, he has some great players at his disposal and obviously cannot get the balance of the side correct. POOR MANAGEMENT!! The team lack passion, Pride and Commitment, which you need at this level to compete. His assistant and coaches have no input and seem as clueless as he is. And are by far the worst managment team ive seen manage this team. Wilko did a better job with no budget. Maybe he needs time, but im sure there is someone out there that could the job..... which brings me onto Mr Mudge. He has achieved great things with burnham, and obviously knows this level. i no his ego, etc isnt great and i dont know much about him but his record is fantastic and ive heard he actually wants to be manager of Slough Town. He has the passion and will to do well. Im open to others opinions, and want to know if anyone agrees, or knows anyone else that could take us forward.

The team.

from watching wonderfull players at wexham park like rake, thompson, keith white to name a few i am finding myself now watching players like pritchard, riddell and harper running around at beaconsfields ground. No offence to these lads who im sure are trying theyre best but would never be in the same league as players from years gone by. I am sure the wage bill has decreased severely but it is so sad to see certain players out there now conning theyre way through games, cheating us loyal fans and having the nerve to make decent money in the process. On a positive note i do feel there are some decent players in the team like dj, jacko and brown all of which show a degree of passion the pitchand actually look hurt to see the team losing. i would rather see local players out there who know about the history of this club and it means something to.

Im going to leave it at this but what i want is changes, changes in personel, changes in team, managment, changes in fortune and a 'home' which we can call our own!!!

Come on you rebels... we deserve better than this.

Mudge is not the answer, how many times has it got to be said! Burnham achieved despite of not because of his skill. Of course he wants to be manager of Slough, so do I! Do not know if Sweets is answer, was not sure when appointed, but do feel needs more time. All succesfull teams give the manager time, not knee jerk reactions after a few losses. Ferguson had some garbage seasons at the start, Man Utd kept faith and the rest is history.

Why does everybody keep saying that you need a manager thats been at this level for years, why you all keep saying that a manager at this level will know players why. look at Jarvo at Beaconsfield his first job, done very well in my humble opinion.

You came to our place and played us in pre season and to be honest i could tell you would struggle, i believe you came with 14 or 15 players, which to be honest is pathetic in pre season

Dont know Sweets personally but hey slough appointted him so give the guy a chance

I wish people wouldn't cry "sack the management" at the drop of a hat - the only way this club is going to continue to move forward in the right direction is through consistency in the management both on and off the field.

Its still early days yet and the fans need to unite and give Sweetman and Co. their full support and confidence in changing things for the better. They have vast amounts of experience at this level and we must believe they can get it right, but only if the fanbase stops disintegrating into separate factions every time we go on a bad run!

I know this can't be used as an excuse, but things haven't gone exactly the way everyone would like it (Pierson leaving a week before the start of the season, Daly and Evasn getting injured just when things were looking up etc.). Givethe management a proper chance to sort aout the club - bearing in mind that pre-season any realistic fan would have taken a season of mid-table obscurity and security after the disaster of last season (me included). This at present looks far from impossible so lets unite and all help to make it a reality 'cos moaning may make you feel good, but it won't help anyone!

Nathan your post is a good one because it looks at the bigger picture, i dont know you and ive heard people say you are young and if so then it shows a good level of maturity.

The reason there have been negative posts on here is becausr of disappointment and dispair about what is happenning on the field.

Football is strange and things change very quickly one week RWG is an idiot and the next he is the new messiah with everyone respecting him as if he knows everything because people are looking for someone with the answers.

Maybe BR is right there needs to be a button on the computer which delays peoples posted messages untill the morning (especially mine lol)

What i do think is that different managers have different styles, many people are trying to make sweetman the sort of coach he is not, we arent there in the dressing room to hear team talks or tactics and if the work has been done does a manager have to be always shouting at the players shouldnt he be analysing the play etc.

i guess sweetman and the management team must be feeling the pressure at the moement especially if reading this board. so maybe we should be supporting them at least for a reasonable time.

Itis true that good managers do often have uninspiring starts at clubs or the players dont play as they should be.

I feel more positive this evening.

Ok, where to start? RWG was wrong, now he's right. Although RWG does go on, he does make sense. Sorry Sweets is not up for the task, and the players that he has "hand picked" are certainly not up for it! Need fresh blood at this once great club, and NO, Mudge is not the answer. We've got to be looking for people like Jarvo, 1st season, won the treble, and not on a great budget, 2nd season riding high in the league (the same league we got relegated from last season), and again not on a great budget. Colin Davis, a great knowledge for local players and doing a great job with Hayes reserves. I know it's only the reserve side, but he has done exceptionally well and i believe done very well as caretaker manager for while a couple of seasons ago.

There are many good young managers out there that will do a better job and will be more pasionate about "SLOUGH TOWN FC", and what we stand for!!!

I'm not after a quick fix, but there are better managers out there who will know better players, who want to win, not make a quick buck out of this club!

Rant over!

Yeah I agree Glen. I also find it quite laughable that some of the same people who had a go at Wiz, after his positings now see him in a 'new light'. He is of course entitled to his opinion, and rightly so as he pays money to watch, but some posters becoming turncoats is hillarious.

...and come on Jarvis, please! There was nearly a riot when he joined us as a player!!

I do know what you mean Chris but we are now three more inept performances down the road from a good draw with Truro. I am all for stability at the club. We had three managers last season and three the season before and that is no way to breed a successful football club. But this season we can't have any excuses and shouldn't be in a relegation dogfight. Let's see where we are come the end of the month and then I think it will be time to make a judgement.

I'm not for one minute suggesting we get Jarvo as a manager, i just think we need someone like him or Davis to inject some some new blood into our club. They are young and know a lot of talented players that could make our club great again. i'm up for giving sweets a chance but he really needs some new players.

Makes sense. By the end of the month we will have played another 3 games against sides lower than us, and also played Abingdon who seemed a weak side when we played them in the cup.

Average 3 goals conceded per game answers it all. If we can't defend we won't pick up points. Agreed we've got injuries to key defenders but it's not rocket science surely?

Last season we couldn't buy a clean sheet and we've got better players this time around.
