Stoke City manager Tony Pulis responds to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's comments about Rory Delap and Ryan Shawcross.

"Most managers up and down the country are very protective of their football clubs and that protection is usually at its height in 'after-game interviews', where we defend our team's performances and our players' mistakes in every way possible

That may be so, but Arsenal took to the field under the same rules as Stoke, and couldn't cope. Stoke had the tenacity to do what was needed in order to get the required result, largely within the rules (although one of the challenges was rogue in my opinion, it only warrented a yellow, and AW shouldn't be surprised if he is called to account for his comments that would land hime in court in any other business).

Thats it. Any elaboration by trying to smear and detract from the fundemental failings of the Arsenal squad is basically just sulking goonerism.

What we are forgetting is that the only teams allowed to finish in the Champions League places are Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. All the other teams that have been allowed to make up numbers in the Premiership are only there to give the "Big Four" the 3 points per game.

Alex Ferguson even dictates to the ref when the game should stop or how much injury time must be played to let Man U get that extra goal needed for the points.

The disgrace way opposition players get in the way of Christiano "Lee Evans lookalike" Ronaldo when he should be allowed to walk the ball in the net every five minutes without being tackled as this means he has to fall over to get the richly deserved free kicks

Why we all bother supporting clubs like Margate and Ramsgate is beyond the mighty minds of the "Big Four" who believe they have a God given right to not lose any match and that everyone should love and support them.

What is the difference between utilising long throws to creat attacking opportunities, and utilising corners to create attacking opportunities .

Why do teams supposedly have problems with the former but not the latter ?

its all in the mindset, and just demonstrates how poor the coaching is

Spot on MM. So many Premiership defenders have failed to deal with that long throw weapon of Stoke's. And, if you have it in your armoury, why not use it? Fair play to them. I don't think there's a team in the country who wouldn't want a player with such an ability at their disposal in their ranks.

the top clubs spend millions on youth from all over the world and then a team like stoke comes along and basically puts pay to all that hard work.

I am all for hard players but one or two a team

The beautiful game as it is known is due to the efforts of teams like brazil, not teams like stoke city

It shows a complete lack of imagination to resort to long throws as your main weapon,ok its a weapon that works well but if that is how some teams can only play then i think the premier league should regulate the teams in it.It is insulting to football fans to call what stoke city do as football

Or redesign the ball as they did in athletics with the javelin - so that the throwers can't hit the runners!

Perhaps we should go back to the leather footballs that soak up water as opposed to the Frido type balls that are used nowadays and swerve all over the place. That would stop those swerving free kicks as well.

It would also mean redesigning the boots so that every time you kicked the ball you didn't damage your foot, well, at least a metatarsal!
