In an ideal world.

Instead of paying players in the CCL would you prefer the money to be spent on -

Have better pitches

Have better changing facilities

More covered stands

Have a better club house

Have better training facilities

End of season tour abroad

Anything else you can think off.

I would have the money better spent in this order:

1... Better pitches

2... Better training facilities

3... End of season tour

4... Changing facilities

5... Club House

6... Covered stands

OK, how about these?

As far as the league is concerned (and the whole of step 5 football) we need to look at play offs for a second promotion place.
In recent years we have had runaway winners of the CCL (it is a bit better this year) and clubs have had little to play for except pride.
I would suggest 2nd v 5th 3rd v 4th in a one off game with the winners then meeting in the same way.
The winners of the CCL, Sussex, Kent and Essex league would play off in the same way for a 2nd promotion place to the Ryman league.
The problem arises if any club is not equipped to promote although I believe a club should get 1 years grace to get facilities up to Ryman demands under a written agreement with the league.
The increased revenue of promotion, via gates, bar, catering and advertising could/would help that club achieve that target.
I would like the CCL to instigate this at regional FA level in time for next season.

I believe clubs should only be allowed to groundshare (when the necessity arises ie after a ground sale) for three seasons. (Current arrangements to be exempt)!

I would like the league to adopt a "match of the day" for Friday evenings. (Division 1 to be included where appropriate too)!
League sponsors to be very pro-active in this as well!!
One months notice should be given to clubs selected.
The league should use fines income to subsidise this including the paying of all match officials as well as a free match programme for spectators.
Many clubs rely on groundhoppers at this level for increased revenue and the ones I have spoken to think this would be well received and supported.
The league must start upping it's profile and look at innovations to improve interest and support both within and externally.

I would like to see more courtesy from players and benches towards officials as well. We should clamp down HARD on the shocking language directed at match officials.

Thats what i would suggest aswell CC, 2-5 place play-off then meet whoever wins one of the other step 5 playoffs will play a final match.

Late runs after christmas, goal differeance coming into play, surley it wll only make it more enjoyable to watch and will bring more fans to the step 5 standard.

Would a move to all step 5 leagues having 20 clubs in their premier division help with this?

I know it wouldn't be popular as it would mean 2 less home league games but we should have some form of consistency re numbers in divisions.

How Essex and Kent solve that issue "may" be helped by a merger? (An old chestnut I know but still sensible).

Or Essex and Eastern Counties to merge and Sussex and kent to merge.

Alternatively, the four leagues named above need revamping.

Redhill and Croydon are in Surrey after all!!!

I know it isn't easy but, hey, thats why people get elected!

I MUST add that any comments by me on here are my personal thoughts and not those of CWUFC!!!

Loving some of the ideas ones I have had for many years.

What about 2nd or 3rd team in CCL in a play off against 2nd or 3rd in Ryman 1.

Friday games is a way forward for gate money and bar money. Would bring new people to games.

With regards to officials - Would be great world if everyone was nice to them. From games I have seen this season the Man in the middle I had no problem with it was the Linesman they have been rubbish and this is the problem.

Good thread. I think some thought needs to go into making the season more interesting at Step 5. Yes it appears our Prem is going to be a decent one this year but too often with 1 up someone walks it. Play Offs are a good idea and need to be looked at. Also I would change the promotion and relegation rules. If a club folds or moves down voluntarily I would increase the number of promoted clubs rather than lessen the relegated ones. Stop teams coming bottom year after year and being reprieved.

Ground Grading should also include state of pitch as well. Get clubs spending on their pitches and facilities before players.

Ban it or allow it, this halfway house is ridiculous.

As regards the league, I would have county leagues only at this level throughout the country.

See my post re 20 team premier division re extra weeks needed.

You can't bring in new legislation (and would have trouble getting it through anyway) to assuage current arrangements re ground sharing. We should not be against ground sharing generally as, in most cases, it makes sense anyway.
However, it is always good to visit clubs to see how they approach things. Groundsharing for tenants can be a little inhibiting regarding the club's personal identity.

I like the county league idea but, again, there would be an imbalance.
Look how many clubs there are in Surrey (compared to other counties) at step 5! We would probably need two county divisions with several more under that. I can't see the leagues being happy with disbanding although I know the FA have "thought" about this!!!

Assuming you mean 2nd and 3rd bottom Ryman clubs then that is a good call.
The same could apply to Ryman North to appease Spartan SML, Hellenic and UCL?

Perhaps we could canvass the club reps (Farnham, Banstead, Knaphill and Chertsey) ahead of the management meeting on 6th December. And David Havenhand??

At least we should direct them to this thread???

I agree but, hey, whoever thought we would have a black president in the USA???
Besides, it is healthy to have good up and down movement and visit new clubs.
It all gets a bit stale otherwise (See our 4 defeats to Cambo last season)!! doh

on the potential number of surrey sides one division should cover all easily with the elite league below? Warlingham would be better suited on facilities in Elite and south Park have a very good Prem set up now taking shape. (for two examples)

chris's point about bringing in new legislation re groundshares, its not new legislation its there already. No permanent groundshares allowed say coco.

Yes meant Top 2nd or 3rd from CCL play off against bottom 2 or 3 from Ryman.

Would be a game with passion and meaning.

With so many players leaving clubs when the Manager does and the players come from miles away to play for that Manager, could you have a rule about that players or a percentage of players need to be within a catchment area of say 5 miles from ground. That way you get players staying at clubs and come continuity?

Would be hard to police it but means you get a team & club which means something to the people of that village or town!

What about a CCL Vets league?
