So now that you are all saying the same as Wiz he is not getting flamed for it ! good ! its a step in the right direction ! at least all the supporters now seem to be singing from the same song sheet ! NO more excuses now Mr.Sweetman ! you have had far more going for you than the last couple of managers , we are in a lower league and still p*ss poor results ! time to deliver or make way for someone who can ! If you think the players ( your players now ) are under - performing then kick ass or kick out but get something done before we go down again into Ye Old Red Lion league or worse ! I asked a question on here a short while back and i am going to ask it again , who is responsible for appointing a reserve team manager at our club ? and is that person satisfied with the way things are working out ? the way we are going there is one bonus we wont need a new ground as we will be able to rent a pitch at Upton Park !:-(

No, it actually begs the question why not? I know, it's down to money at the end of the day, and I agree that we should be investing in the youth team at the moment. In my opinion, one of the worst decisions taken in the last ten years, was the disbanding of the reserves. No real step up from youth to first team, which is why not many local players anymore. Reserves good way to get local talent discovered at a reasonable level, Lloyd was a good example. Would his career have taken off without the reserve team?

I think one of the problems is finding a location for them to play as there is no room to accommodate them at Beaconsfield given Slough's Men, Women and U18s play there on top of Beaconsfields teams.

Although perhaps the Polish Club could be used?

Very good Tom ! but you know exactly what i mean ! ok lets make it black and white who appointed Derek Sweetman ? and based on what ? if it was who i think , he has been around in football for long enough to know a good manager by now , yet clearly still doesnt ! or is it a money issue and thats the best we could do ? there were a lot of wasters out there against Hayes but at least we will save on laundry bills as those shirts wont need washing ! Players strolling about and posing while Sweets rubs his chin & ponders , ROLLOCK the living daylights out of them man ! Laziness is the one thing you cant tolerate ! If its not going well and half the team are shirkers what chance have you got ? we need grafters willing to put in the hard yards to stiffen that midfield and a creative player who will score goals from there , oh dont tell me ? he is out on loan ! It would be funny if we werent crying !

The one thing that Keith has are contacts. Having played through all the domestic leagues he has built up a lot of useful contacts in the business (although he hasn't had to use too many of them). Appologies if Sweets has played pro in the past, I don't know his history.

But you also say that Derek has been around this league for a years and knows how it works, well correct me if I'm wrong, and I probably am, Derek was manager at Marlow in the Ryman League before moving on to Burnham. So he hasn't been in the Southern League for as long as people think, BUT he has been in non-league football at his level for a long time.

Also, the Southern League, as has the Ryman League, has undergone many changes over the past few seasons and the style of football has changed dramatically. Everyone used to see the Southern League as a 'kick em up in the air' league but over the past couple of seasons I think this has changed quite a bit.

It basically doesn't matter how long you have been involved with a particular legue, if you don't adapt to the changes then you will not suceed.

There are local lads playing at this level and above , in fact if i am right Dean Papali ( AFC's no.9 )is the son of an old footie pal of mine and the last i heard he was still in Langley , Ben Hudell is playing locally and unless he has gone downhill badly since i last saw him play would surely do better than most of those wasters last night ! there are more but you get the point ? you are absolutely spot on about Lloyd ! back then we had a good reserve set up and need one again as the natural transition from youth football but until we get our own facilities its extremely unlikely to happen !

You cannot have youth teams and reserve teams if they are costing money detremental to the first team.

And I mentioned Keith Scott only because he had played at a very high level pro wise and also non league with Wycombe under Martin O'Neal, so he must have contacts and also picked up a lot of coaching ideas.

Mr Sweet man may have been around a long time but has he acheived anything worth while as a manager or player-I think we know that answer.

The question i would like to ask is why did we only start getting new players in after 8 or 9 games? Surely thats what pre-season is for, to assemble and mould your squad and try them out in a few

friendlies, rather than waiting till we lose a few games and then pressing the panic button? It reminds me of last season when we used to turn up to games not knowing who was playing in what position.

True. But that said if you look at the squad we had early on in pre-season I think the probably intended line-up was something along the lines of:

Jacko

Harper Pierson Fenton McConigley

Dickens Brown Pritchard Gray

Platt and Jordan

which on paper does not look a bad side. I think the intention was always to improve on that with tow or three more players but then Pierson left without playing a league game and McConigley and Dickens got injured so he needed far more players than he was expecting.

The important thing is now to settle on the best XI. Thee crucial thing here is settling ona formation, getting the players playing in their favourite positions and then getting them to work as a team. If that doesn't happen quickly then something is drastically wrong.

Mal, you make some good points, especially adapting to change.

With regards to contacts though, I think Sweets will have as many as Keith, obviously not in league football, but how many has Keith used so far for Windsor (probably only for the QPR friendly i'd imagine).

I know Keith, having worked with him, and spoke to him at the match at Truro, and he likes a lot of our players. So I just hope that Sweets can get the confidence up, get a fully fit squad and we can get some points on board. I think the next three games are make or break for this club and determines how our season goes.

Also someone mentioned pre-season. That's where I think we went wrong. We never had a settled side and the lack of players that we had was silly at times. Players were there one minute then missing the next game. I appreciate it's pre-season, but other clubs did not seem to have that trouble.

Hang on a minute, how long did we have before we knew what league we were playing in before pre season started?

It is also less than two weeks since we came within a minute of being the first club in the league to beat Truro, and put 3 goals against a team that had only conceded six.

And what about the Farnborough performance not so long back. Or 3 league wins on the trot?

We can do it, we have the players - and we have the support, when we stop moaning for a moment, to get behind them this Saturday.
