I phoned up sky last night to downgrade the movies off as I hardly ever watch them , Can you believe the S--tbags made me wait for 45 minutes to answer my call ? The automated system sent me round the system several times like push 1 2 3 or 4 each time you push a number you got another set of numbers ,then another and so on !

 

Finally some johnny foreigner answered and I could hardly understand what he was saying but after several attemps I got him to cancel the movie channels .He then told me I was beeing charged 5p a minute for the call ,By this time I was seething I bet you if I put the movie channels back on they'll answer the call in seconds .mad

 

Anybody else got any similar horror stories like this ?

Very similar Eric. We too had to wait over half an hour to have the movies and music turned off (and Setanta Sports turned on...).

 

Then abut a week later Halifax Lass (Invisible Wife) was kept hanging on about 45 mins to report that our box wasn't working. This yook two or three calls as tinkering with it brought th epicture back, then it finally packed up. She phoned again to get a bloke out but gave up hanging on, it took so long.

 

We went into Currys to see what alternatives there might be, and found that we could order a Sky+HD box through Currys on a cheper installation deal than direct from Sky (although Sky fit it). The guys had a lot of trouble with booking it with the computer thing, and then it wouldn't let us order Sky broadband, then it finally gave an installation date of 30 November (this was the weekend before last). The Currys bloke rang Sky and was amazed at how 'ignorant and rude' (his words) the Sky man was. The Sky man said there was no order... Curry man said no, that's why we're ringing, to check if that date is right... Sky man says well put the order through and I'll see if I can improve on it... Curry man says if I do, and if you can't then improve on the date, can the customer cancel the order? Sky man said no! Needless to say we did not proceed.

 

So, the Lass rang Sky to get amendy repir man out for our old diesel non+ non HD box. Yep, another 45 minute wait. At least this guy (Irish) was helpful and courteous, and as he could tell that the Lass wasn't happy he said he'd add another package for free (not that we really wanted one).

 

Finally, last Tuesday a bloke came out and gave us a new box and dish. Obvioulsy we wil be paying for this on the next bill.

 

A couple of years ago Invisible Stepdaughter rang Sky when their Sky+ box went wrong and was told 'tough!'

 

So yes, they are pretty cr@p. If only we had cable up our road.

I wouldn' have SKY, even if Fans Focus were paying for it.

 

One big con.

 

Youngest daughter has had so much trouble with them, she threatened to dump all their equipment on the doorstep after being told she would have to wait for four days for an engineer.

 

Guess what - An engineer appeared in less than an hour.

Sky update , I have had it with them the volume control has failed on the sky box and now they start talking insurance like you don't have any sir, Ok says me turn the lot off I'll go and phone virgin . At least they come and fix the problem or at least I hope they do.

Last time I called them I used an 01x number - will track it down and post it here.

Just upgraded our box to HD (install due Tueasday) - paid
