Burnham 0 - WEFC 5

The performance today was superb. The conditions were testing to say the least and the quality of passing and general football played a testament to how good the team is at the moment.

But I still charge anyone to give a sensible explanation as to why Coyne was booked. Imagine a player celebrating a goal, how dare he especially when it was from so far out and really put our stamp on the match. I also thought the ref did well not to throw cards around all over the place in difficult conditions and the players not to get silly with their tackles. Would he have called the game off if the players had been chopping each other down, possibly. But what a great win and an extra

How funny was it with that Burnham fan who clearly was upset he couldn't stand and watch the game in silence having a go at Coyne "More like Chris Evens than Chris Zidane"

Coyne responed by scoring from just infront of this bloke!!

An easy game in very hard conditions. We still played football which on a waterlogged pitch was very impressive!!! Bring on the next round!

Was at the game as a neutral and very impressed by Windsor.

We were right next to the Burnham fan in question who was pointlessly abusive about everything. The "effing bell end" comment and his reaction when reminded of the score was top quality entertainment. However the second half despite the conditions was made better by him not being around.

The booking of your player after his goal was I agree somewhat mystifying.

Good luck in the next round.

Ta. What a shame he wasn't around for the second half! He must of seen enough and gone home! Saying that i may aswell of not been there i was too busy playing with the Twins i missed the goals in the second half!

Only downside to winning means Taunton away on a tuesday night. Who's going to tell Chopper the bad news?

Massively impressed with the play, the score and the turn out of Windsor fans for the wettest game of the season! Played really well, with the correct passes going on, Man of the match would probably go to Chenns for his goal rate but you have to hand it to Jake Parsons and Andy Fagan both played fantastic!

Completely stunned by Paul Coyne getting booked for celebrating and further stunned when Butts got booked instead of Seeds for the challenge / scrap / riot! I wonder if the Colonel had a word with the ref over either of those decisions.

As for Taunton away being moved to a Tuesday I

The reason he got booked was simple, you cannot (AND I THINK IT'S BLOODY STUPID) celebrate with supporters.

The ref claimed he had no choice which, unless he had someone assessing him then he did have a choice, although great [****!!****] up with the scrap. Seeds and Butts really look the same now don't they!!

Oh come on malc. This is football and people should be able to celebrate how they like! It wasn't like he dived into the fans he just ran towards us! He did 'worse' during the Slough game when Porter scored the 3rd! Just imagine how entertaining football would be if everyone celebrated like Temouri Kitsbia!!

Next players will be booked running towards the dugout i guess!? wink

Surely that can't be right, you see it on MOTD and The Championship with nearly every goal and I have yet to see a player booked (Tottenham's equaliser against Arsenal being a particularly recent example) so what exactly is the ruling? I thought it might have beeen for treading on their delightful flower beds they had by the dugouts. They are going to look so fabulous come spring don't you think?!?!? I would say though that Coyne's reaction of just smiling surprised me, thought he might have a little something to say to the ref, is this another part of his game that has improved since he came back to us?

Players have been booked for this on MOTD and even ending up them being sent off. I think it happened to a couple of Reading players last season.

Anyway, basically it is a bookable offence although it is not diretly referenced in the laws of the game. They try and wrap it up with delaying the restart and leaving the field of play.

Basically it is a load of rubbish. A player should be more than entitled to celebrate his goal in anyway he wants.

I don't agree you should be able to celebrate anyway you want as that can cause incitement amongst opposition fans but, as I pointed out to the ref afterwards, there weren't any opposition fans! It's the first time ever after a match a referee has said to me 'I don't like to talk about bookings or incidents in the match', well pardon me but why should he be different to any other referee? I've had refs not come into boardrooms after controversial matches or if they know they've had a bad game but I've never heard that one before!

All he really wanted to talk about were his hopes for getting 'a line' in one of his local FA Cup 1st round ties - my reply was you'll be getting several lines from me on the report to the FA! For some reason they left shortly after.

Right, if a pplayer is inciting actions or being abusive then obviously he should be booked. But coming up to his own fans, celebrating for a very short period of time and then returning to play, well you don't see top players getting booked for that unless they take their shirts off. I am sorry but this is one of the reasons why refs get such a bad name and fans hurl abuse at them (right or wrong). But lets be honest the FA will do nothing about it, and he will continue to be a complete a**e and Coyne's booking will stand and probably cost him a match at some point in the season.

Its not as if Coyney had run half the length of the pitch to celebrate he was only a few yards away from the fans when he scored. As per usual the laws that the old fools at the FA come up with take precedence over simple common sense.

The FA want the players and fans to show the officials more respect but how can you when they are dishing out cards for such petty things.

It was a shame because apart from the Coyne booking and maybe the Chennels incident with the keeper, I thought the ref had a reasonable game considering the conditions.

As i said on a previous thread he reffed the match with common sense not booking everyone every time a sliding challenge came in and not making silly decisions. But then one ridiculous decision and he is an a**e. I guess its like the goalie who makes five great saves and drops an easy cross into his own goal, we all know what we'll remember and what costs the team the most.
