Well, it all makes life more interesting, eh? Yorath and Southall have been waiting in the wings since Ashby was appointed, so this was bound to happen unless he worked a miracle.

He has got a good team together, but have they played to their potential? I think not, and that's the other part of a manager's job.

Remember the announcement that we were not going to repeat the mistake of appointing an inexperienced manager? I think that was about a week before we did exactly that.

It has been heavily hinted that Paul Smith was the sticking point. I don't think you can read the club's statement any other way. If that is not the case then perhaps the club would like to issue a clarification.

But look, the club is skint and owes money. The club's backers are in the building or allied trades. The building industry is on its way to hell in a handcart. What does that tell you? It is all to do with money of course.

All credit to BA and PS for their efforts. Nobody doubts their commitment and I hope they find success elsewhere in the future.

In the meantime their departure will have saved some cash, which could just be a lifeline.

Dean Saunders, Pat Van Den Hauwe, Ian Rush, Ryan Giggs, Vinnie Jones and Mark Hughes all played for Wales under Yorath. They would all do a job but not sure if Jones would come back from America, whether Hughes or Saunders would give up their management roles and I think Giggs contract at Man Utd might be a bit tough to buy out but maybe Rush and Van Den Hauwe could do a job. Although last time I saw Rush was for Wrexham in 1998 and he had lost a yard or twenty then!

I know that what has happened to BA seems a tad unfair.

But the thought of having a TOP class manager like Terry Yorath in charge excites the hell out of me. I must abmit I've hated watching the football we've been playing this season. Hopefully now I'll be able to attend Hartsdown and see entertaining football. Full of flair and an ability for the team to keep hold of the ball.

I personally loath watching "hack and hoof" football with a team just set up to defend. I'd rather loose a game watching a team trying to play football than a team just trying to nullify a game, and the hope of getting a lucky goal now and again.

Right I'm sorry but this is ridiculous

my opinion aside, because if you have an opinion on here you get slated if it doesnt match everyone elses.

But everyone seems excited about yorath's contacts, sorry to point it out but he was Director of Football and as far as I'm aware this is the director who searches, contacts and signs players. He obviously hasnt had much luck trying to attract players to club which is goin bust and really is, let's face it a SMALL club, which none of his contacts are going to want to play for. We're the non-league newcastle. I'm finding it hard to watch this club, on and off the pitch.

Defo Newcastle and not Spurs.

I hate to say it for fear of a backlash, but some peoples' opinions that we are a bigger club than we actually are, and deserve to be playing at a higher level than we do are akin to a geordie perspective.

Whereas although Spurs are perennial underacheivers on the pitch, the fans are eternal optomists off of it!

I will say this slating works both ways, look at Frankie posting yesterday re boo boys, he was slated.

As a moderator, I try to leave both opinions on this forum, though some do post just to be confrontational at times.

Just heard Tam, Chairman of MISA, on the local radio. He said as far as he understands club trying to save monies and wanted Smith to go as he is not playing much and his wages come out players budget so had to go especially if we need another striker.
