The Club has parted company with both its Manager Barry Ashby and player coach Paul Smith, with immediate effect.

The decision was reached over the weekend after discussions regarding changes the Directors required to be made to personnel, which Barry Ashby refused to implement.

Whilst the Club seeks to appoint a new Manager, Director of Football, Terry Yorath will assume full control of first team affairs.

Well you certainly wont get a more experienced manager then Terry I guess?

Best of luck to Barry and Smudger though, I will for one miss them, both nice blokes.

well i have to say its a bit of a waste of money, bringing them in for just a couple of months. the board must have known that we would struggle this season, so to sack them just seems absurd to me...

if it is as Coffin Ender suggests, then thats their fault for hiring a billion managers in the first place...

This really is a shame. I would think that he was always going to be given the full season no matter what, but can only assume that he wanted to show Smith the loyalty that he deserved, so can understand his stance.

However, I can also understand that if the board thought the best way to make further savings (therefore extra money for the Revenue) was to axe Smith, then so be it.

I think the club needs to make it perfectly clear now that Yorath is there for the season come what may, and that no other exits will be forthcoming this season (assuming Smith has already gone). That way, we can try and settle the team down, get a striker in and hope that coincides nicely with a positive

result in court...

I wish BA and Smudger all the best for the future, but have to add it was only a matter of time!!! Maybe TY can use his little black book to bring in some EX stars, maybe bring some new supporters with new blood. All this could not have come at a worse time though, as I feel this will also affect the players as well.

I dont think this is a suprise to die hard fans, Terry Yorath was always Keith Pipers choice as Manager, this was mentioned on this Forum back in May 2008.

I wish BA and PS all the Best in what ever they decide to do.

"...after discussions regarding changes the Directors required to be made to personnel" - is it just a coincidence that Mo Takaloo was at the ground on Saturday and Barry Ashby didn't appear to know who he was ? Presumambly Mo was invited to Hartsdown but it didn't look like BA had done the inviting.
