crikey...what a day..what a week...what a result....

 

nette and her staff moved heaven and earth for our team arangements in the lead up to this game as we knew we could win it..the players travelled overnight and we got lucky with a great little hotel in weymouth who took us to their hearts and actually came to the game and cheered us on....a superb setting for our lads to relax and concentrate in...

 

inconsistent we may be this season but on our day we are a match for any NL team and again we proved that today as the urchin cubs became lions and the urchin men became bravehearts.....

 

make no mistake this was a talented full time professional weymouth team that we beat today and they never stopped running and they always looked threatening and many a team would have crumbled under their slick passing pressure but not our lions and our bravehearts....to a man they rallied after dale slipped and gifted the home side the early goal but thereafter it was always the urchins to the second balls and always the urchins to the tackle or the block and always the urchins dangerous on the break...

 

come the second half at 1-0 down and lee's equaliser really raised the urchin hackles....with the travelling fans in the noise stakes ascendency and the lions and bravehearts in full flow...an amazing end to end cup tie developed and every one of the spectators fortunate enough to be there stood with hands to mouths as one chance after another developed.....

 

we believe in the footballing gods at hx and I said to nette this morning....

 

we shall win this game..I can feel it...the footballing fates owe us this one for lots of reasons...

 

she knew what I meant..!!

 

and so it was....in the 93rd minute with the ref looking at his watch and a replay on tuesday beckoning... the sometime irritating..sometime frustrating..sometime wonderfully god gifted and magical parks heard those gods of the footballing fates beckon him and majestically slotted home the winner...

 

this was pure magic and pure urchin legends stuff....the fans...the players and colin and his staff were superb...this was the FA Cup in all its glory..whatever happens next... these players today have written themselves into urchin folkelore and urchin history...

 

this was the reason why we do it...

There are no superlatives to describe the team performance today. Their heads never dropped after conceding the early goal. Total commitment doesn't even come close - we played them off the park! The journey home was fantastic following what the lads had done on the pitch. A truly perfect day. Pity our hosts were such sore losers!

This was the best time I have ever had at a football match. What a great performance and what superb commitment from our boys! To be able to have a drink with them back at Bridge Avenue later and to see how much it meant to them (Dale was really elated) was really good to see.

 

I have to say that Mentalist was superb today, leading the singing. He never stopped. Great atmosphere on the coach, too. Thanks to all the Urchins for another memorable day in your company

absolutly amazing day from moment woke up (i woke everyone else up ) to the game, after the game on the way home, back at the club house and getting back home, not too long ago!

Had a few beers to the early hours with a couple of Weymouth fans in my hotel.

They heaped loads of praise on us and agreed the best team won.

Shame we didn't get to stay and meet a few more after the game.
