yes they did. Not wishing to make excuses for the team, I`m sure they all know they were not at their best, but. Anyone who has been to the Oxford Rd ground will know what the pitch is like, I guess it ran out at about 1 in 15 ft, undulated and uneven. As for the rail that run round the pitch, as far as I could see at least 2 of our lads went under it hitting their heads as they went.

The first 7 minutes saw Margate well on top and Cray struggling to get the ball out of their half. Sadly one of the few moments of threat gave Cray a pen in the 7th minute and the lead. After this Margate were unable to maintain the form of the opening minutes as Cray played the long ball down the pitch. Hanging on to half time Margate had a couple of chances but in the main it was Cray. The feeling that Margate could now use the slop did not last long as cray put their 2nd away after 10 mins of the restart. Again Cray had most of the play as the Gate continued to give the ball away and it was not long before it was 3 - 0. The 4th went in 10 from the end as the Gate excepted it was not their day. I think the best here is to put it down as a very bad day and learn from it. Can well understand why MW was not that pleased especially as just he and I were there.

Lets hope for better next time out.
