DFC MATCH REPORT:-

Dorking, without several first team players, ground out a good win at Feltham in the Combined Counties Division 1 on Saturday to make it two wins on the spin. With Dorking playing Sheerwater at home on Saturday 1 November, manager Tony Webb will be hoping Chicks can make it three wins in a row as Dorking seek to strengthen their league season.

After the good away win last week at Warlingham, Dorking went into this game looking to build on that result, but manager Tony Webb had to contend with a number of absences through unavailability, suspension or injury. The missing list included Dan LAwrence, Aaron Leacock, Dan Stassinos, Warren Burton, Jesse Davis and brothers Terry and Gary Fennessey, and those starting the game also included Scott Harrison who was carrying a knock, Harrison being replaced at half time by striker Simon Cassidy who converted to a right back role with impressive ease.

The absences also gave a first Dorking competitive start to full back Martin Waldren, Waldren being rewarded for his patience after starting many games this season as substitute, and he impressed at left back throughout this game.

Webb must have thought that it was not going to be his day given the many absences and after Feltham scored after only 10 minutes to take an early lead, but his side, well lead by dependable captain Roy Newman, settled down and it was no surprise when top scorer Dan Bennett notched his 12th of the season to equalise in the 20th minute.

Central midfielder Dan Clayton was having an influential game for Chicks and it was Clayton who deservedly scored the all important Dorking second goal 10 minutes from half time as Dorking went in at the interval 2-1 up.

Dorking had second half chances to kill the game, but they were not taken as the ball often found itself shot high and wide of the goal, but as the game went on, Feltham were creating half chances, and 7minutes from time had a golden chance to make it 2-2, but the shot cleared keeper Dan Coote's goal, and Dorking took advantage just 2 minutes later. The ball broke upfield, Bennett cutting inside his marker to curl the ball into the net from the edge of the box to make the game safe for Chicks

Dorking now play Hanworth Villa at home on Tuesday night 28 October in a CCL Div 1 league cup game before Sheerwater visit Meadowbank on Saturday 1 November in a league game.

Team:- Dan Coote, Scott Harrison, Martin Waldren, Alex Hill, Roy Newman ©, James White, Lester Boniface, Dan Clayton, Phil Page, Dan Bennett, Victor Donker.

Playing subs:- Simon Cassidy, Levi Kennedy
