MFC vs Wealdstone .... LIVE commentary .....

In the cold light of day and having had a FEW calming beers last night I think i can now say that the match yesterday was the worst display of football I have witnessed at hartsdown for many years. Individual players, individual performances are not enough as this is a TEAM sport. I can openly admit to cheering MP off the pitch as I (and many others) dont believe he contributes to the team effort, he seems to amble through the game and just isnt "hungry" enough to be a striker IMO.

The team as a whole looked dis-jointed and in desperate need of an experienced, dare I say GOBBY player who will rally the guys to pick themselves up/pull together. Having listened to Paul Smiths interview on how dissapointed he was with the fans heckling of MP, maybe the substition should have been made earlier as he was being heckled throughout the game. Im not saying the boo boys were/are justified, but we are all passionate about OUR team and some fans feel the only way of making their feelings known is to rant/rave on the terraces so that maybe the management will hear and act accordingly. Simply put we all THINK we would be better at managing a team better than the current manager but HE is the one with the knowledge and experience with the squad and maybe knows just that little bit more than us. Have had my moan/rant for the day and feel better for it, can we pick ourselves up and play better, jury is out on that one !!

I managed an away game at Dartford Andy (couldn't manage the Ashford game so can't comment on that one) & I was fortunate enough to be there on a day when I witnessed an emphatic & sterling performance from the team. Best I have witnessed all season home or away.It really should have been 4 or even 5, I exaggerate not!!

If we had played up to that standard yesterday we would have, with more luck & better finishing beaten Wealdstone out of sight who i.m.o. are far inferior to Dartford.

However we under-performed as was evident but the winning mentality & the know-how is definately there. Without a doubt!!

If we can get back to the form of the Dartford game we will certainly be flying higher than we are at present.

Oh yes, we can be much better than yesterday..easily much better, but we have to be consistent with those kind of performances & that's our problem more than any other........Consistency!!

Consistency as u mention is missing, but u have to admit Tony if we "consistantly" lose at Hartsdown this season the gates will inevitably drop, and in these times of financial worry that is something neither club nor team can afford. Is there light at the end of the tunnel, if there is its fading IMO, sorry if I sound defeatist but Something needs to be done and soon..

Agree its not looking brilliant ,and i fear for another defeat on Tuesday.

However, in my own little mind-we are 'on track'..

it was always going to be a difficult season-many of us did -and are still saying-lets just avoid relegation this season.

In my mind, my 'goal' was to be in about 17th/18th by Christmas, and have a better second half of season.

Thats still possible.

18th Today.

i think we will be about 20th by end of Nov, but hopefully can as 'planned' be about 17th by Christmas and then slowly climb in second half of season.

its not all doom and gloom .

more than anything though-can we survive as a club ?

I fully agree its a thing we can ill afford but its down to the manager to get the consistency into the team & that's all we can hope for as far as that goes.

Getting out of the current financial position we find ourselves in & if we do to avoid relegation (even finishing just 5th from bottom) & I'll be kok-a-hoop!

Alot easier for me as not seen a game for a month,so have not suffered the pain directly.

However, if we go back to mid June;i reckon most of us would have been happy with 18th at this point of the season (and i suspect deep down the board would have been aswell ).

the trouble is, everyone's expectations go up as season progresses.

I still se no reason why we can't be about 15th by end of season-and most would have been ecstatic at that in mid June.

Loks like we are going to get a striker in the next month.

Maybe even one or two others;and we will start to climb the league to about 15th/16th..

Yes we are losing, yes thats disappointing.Yes-i expect us to lose heavily on tuesday;but in most games we lose by the odd goal-so we are not being hammered-and remember-many predicted we would be like Leyton.

Thus i reckon BA has done alright so far and it is getting better. We don't collapse once we concede (unlike last season).

I genuinely think things are better.we just need to return to realism.

One thing that is worrying me a bit though is that the reserves don't seem to be doing quite aswell this season .Don't know why that is
