Why should the moderators need to do anything? It's up to individuals to stop being idiots and polluting the forum with rubbish. That involves people thinking before they post and not just reacting to an opinion they don't agree with and stirring things even more. There's always someone who wants to have the last word, even if it's completely irrelevant.

And you are supposed to be a mature adult, what did you do? I'm not starting an argument, I'm making the point that it shouldn't need moderators to referee petty squabbles between grown ups who should moderate themselves.

edited to say that was Ian's post, not Kay's. I didn't notice she was signed in.

that i think is the bigger "problem" than peoples arguments with the likes of Wizard

how many posts are there anymore about matches or actually about the teams progress. its all garbage arguing about nothing basically instead

I'm in favour of this forum allowing unregistered users.

I believe that after 2 really bad seasons, many fans have run out of optimism. This season, although with noticably better results, isn't giving us riveting football, a sniff of the play offs or a cup run so theres not a lot to get excited or optimistic about. The result is a lack of football discussion and squables between fans.

Its nothing that 3 or 4 wins on the trot won't cure though.

Staines, you're a grown man and it is time you started to act your age.

It was you spitting your dummy out and posting anonymously that caused Gary to make the temporary switch to registered users. So you got your own way. Now you are moaning because we as moderators do not hold you on a leash, when I know full well you'd be among the first to complain about censorship, particularly if you felt the club were seeking forum material to be removed.

You and RWG clearly do not see eye to eye. Why just not agree to disagree rather than biting on every line he throws your way?

Stains after Saturdays game Wiz started a thread, and I'm sorry to say you were the first to answer. I decided a while ago that I would ignore anything wiz as to say, either by not commenting on what he as to say or answering the post before his. He feeds on on other posters, so just act as if he's not there and stick to the football.

Initially my messages were just how I saw the games, the quality of some of the players and the non quality of the management. Here and there I suggested ideas that may have help and yes one or two were taken up-especially defensive wise( whether they like to admit that or not). This I have been entitled to do as a paying supporter, and also pre Deaner a life long memeber of the supporters club and one of the first members of the Wexham Park Club as it was then back in the seventies and before that at the old Dolphin Sadium supporters club,my father and uncle both gave playing service to Slough Town F.C.so the connections go back a long long way.Added to this my own playing career, I think I have a rough idea about football,so when all these jerks came on and rubbished my musings just because it did/does not suit the way they blindly and optimistically view the games, I was entitled to respond to them in their own childish manner.Yes maybe that was stooping to their levels, but I felt it was the only way they'd understand-how wrong was I ?

So if I write anything in the future its because I feel like it not because I want any of you to respond-we have already established that open honest debating is alien to this forum-as someone said not much on here about the football, and when there is it only gets a few replys-yet this thread has been read by 1200 or more and replied by 80 odd-how come???

In that case why have moderators at all, just have it self moderating, not that im suggesting it but surely yes in the real world people will think before they post but in reality it wont happen so surely the mods should start zapping posts. I dont really care what people post and as i say if people posted there good thoughts then it would outweigh all the other stuff but people are not.I think ted is right it is because we havent had much success, the predict the score threads are an example, people saying oh i dont like to predict the score which is fair enough but isnt it better to contribute to that rather than the so called bickering threads. I suppose if we were doing well in the league people would want to predict and talk about football, hope that changes.
some forums ive been on the moderators are very heavy handed and stamp out any srguing etc, im sort of glad in that respect that the mods on here dont do that but now and again would be ok.

Mr Rebel, The reason that people don't respond to sensible posts is that the majority of people who used to post "sensibly" making good points rather than pathetic arguing and bitching, just don't bother reading this forum let alone post anymore because on the whole it just isn't worth it.

Perhaps if everyone grew up a bit, accepted that not everyone shares their opinion and stopped acting like a bunch of silly little boys in the playground resorting to insults and abuse, then maybe the days of the forum being a good read and a bit of fun might return.

So what are the advantages/disadvantages of registered/non-registered?

And will either promote a better "quality" of posts?

I have seen a lot of posts knocking what is on here, but have seen very few about moving things forward.

Is there a relationship in the number of posts that are football related to the falling numbers in attendance i.e. if you dont watch the game you dont have anything to comment about?

I will open up to anonymous posters to reply to existing threads, but not to start new ones for the time being and will work with the mods to encourage better use of this forum.

As mods, we have been criticised for editing/removing posts in the past so we have tried not to do this moving forwards. However, if we are actually losing contributors to the forum because of some nonsense, we may well be forced to do this more often.

Think before you post, let's keep it relevant, constructive and largely on topic.
