double standards ??

i know ive dealt with this subject before but what with recent developments and the fact that a campaign is soon to be launched by the FA to deal with homophobia i thought i would bring it up again.

im 44 years of age,old enough to remember the days when the national front could be found selling their paper and handing out leaflets outside most football grounds,it always amuses me to see the cosmopolitan nature of the present day chelsea team as i can remember all of their supporters to a man booing everytime a black player scored for THEIR club.

if someone came on this forum now using racist language their post would probably be immediately deleted so why is it still accepted to use homophobic language and no one raises an eyebrow?

hookey im just wondering how successful the fa will be in their campaign,apparentely justin fashanu is the only high profile professional footballer ever to have 'came out',on sites like this racist language isnt tolerated will it be a similar situation with homophobic comments in 10 years time,i dont suppose that most gays really take much notice but IF you were a sodomite playing professional footballer would you come out?

After what happened with Justin Fashanu, I can understand why any gay professional footballers wouldnt come out.

 

Would you want all this unwanted publicity, just cause you were gay?

 

Its easier for them to keep it quiet, and live their lives how they want to live. In private.

 

There have always been rumours about gay footballers. Sol Campbell, Marc Overmars, Dean Ashton, Ashley Cole, Jermaine Jenas, and the list goes on.

 

Whether any of them are or not, im sure they probably don't mind coming out, but they realise the unwanted media attention they will gain from this.

In all honesty though, it would be weird showering and mucking about in the showers if your team mate had a cheeky hard-on each time you showered.

When I played in the SAL a while ago we mostly used a communal bath in which the water was so muddy most of the time it would have been impossible to see a basking shark let alone a marauding penis!
