I have to say I quite like the NME! I know they tend to contradict themselves and go for the build 'em up and knock 'em down method but I usually have strong opinions on a band myself so I don't let it sway me and then it doesn't bother me. Don't worry, when I'm editor, I'll make it a lot better! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Also, the NME always slag off Toploader which make them okay by me!I like Q as well, but my two favourite mags are now defunct: Select and Melody Maker.

Coldplay are okay, I think a lot of people slag them off because off their commercial success and not on the basis off their music. It seems to me that whenever a fairly 'underground' band hit's commercial success, orignal fans turn against them, for evidence see Oasis, Travis, Stereophonics, the Strokes etcetc.

I have to say that as far as pop goes, I think Justin Timberlake and Blue (not Robbie, he's a twat) do a pretty good job of it. I bet those of us who slag these people off (myself included) secretly like the songs but because they have a certain image, or that genre of music has certain connotations we don't admit to it. And don't bang on about that argument that they're 'so manufactured' becasue isn't every band manufactured in some way or another???

I'm not a big fan of today's pop music. Most of it is pretty rubbish although some of the Sugababes' stuff is not bad. I prefer Duran Duran or A Ha if I want to listen to pop music.

Coldplay are a band I'll never get into. Some of their songs are Ok but they're just too dull. They would really need to do a really rocking tune for me to change my mind.

Let me guess...

Duran Duran - A View To A Kill & A-ha for The Living Daylights?!

You're not the only one!!!

This is not directed at anyone on here, but further to my comments about pop, I find that most men who slag of male pop stars are generally jealous of their amazing success with the laydeez! Just the same as most girls who slag off female pop starts are jealous of their success with the fellas!
