Utter Disgrace

Hookey, I'll reply to your post. These are the facts, nothing more nothing less.

There was a game the day before with no problems.

In the afternoon a club official looked at the pitch and the lines were deemed good enough.

Soon after the rain came down quicker than an Essex girls knickers and washed them away somewhat.

At 6-30 I opened up the changing rooms and put the flags out in the pouring rain.

I saw the lines were bad and informed Eton Manor, we agreed to see what the referee said. In my opinion the game could easily have still gone ahead.

I had to dissapear for ten minutes and I got a phone call saying the ref was not happy with the lines. I told the club staff to get the linemarker out and I would do it (in the rain) before kick off. I got back at 7-15.

The lights were off, the referee and Basildon had all gone quicker than Richard Noble.

IMO I could have marked out the bad bits before kick off enabling the game to go ahead. The referee could even have delayed the kick off till 8, there would have been no problems.

If Waltham Abbey had been at home there would have been a pitch inspection in the afternoon.

Thats how it was and is, nothing more nothing less.

Abbeynut, thats absolute crap and you are just trying to save face,Basildon did not leave until 7.30 the same time as the referee,we were told by Reg Curtis you might be able to get there sometime after 8.00 but couldnt gaurantee it,The lines at the far end of the pitch were not there so how in your opinion could it have been played,Also what do you line the pitch with, all other games that night went ahead. Now if there was a cockup in communication thats bad,but to try and pass the buck is unbelievable.and for you to think that we are that naive is unacceptable. One more thing,if the rain had been that bad how comes there wasnt a single puddle on the pitch and the goalmouths were not even muddy?

you state that if waltham abbey were at home there would have been an afternoon pitch inspection, considering that the heavy rain had not fallen by then this seems irreverent, you knew that by 7 o'clock that a lot of rain had fallen and if the result of this is that the white lines tend to get washed away you therefore knew that they had to be marked out.

you have had 4 days to come up with an excuse and maybe even an apology?? and thats the best you can do.

by the way i left the ground at 7.35 and the referee and linesmen were then walking to their cars.

at least we now know that waltham abbey are more to blame than eton manor.

Isn't that the trouble with a groundshare agreement though as you are always reliant on the host Club and totally in their hands, if they mess up, as appears to have been the case on Monday, then you are sold down the river.

Bigbadbuddah - I didn't say that anybody deserves to be, or should, be punished however if the Essex League hold an enquiry and deem anybody responsible for the fiasco it will probably be Eton Manor for not ensuring 'their landlords', namely Waltham Abbey, had made the necessary arrangements to ensure the pitch was playable, ie marking out the lines. Anyway why are you asking me.

from what i hear we claim travelling and other expenses of eton manor and they claim them of waltham abbey.if it was a cup match we would have been put through to the next round because its a league match different rules apply.

all of us are members of the non league family and im sure we take no delight in seeing another club punished but at the end of the day why should basildon be punished for a crime they havent committed.

Hi mate, do you know me? I have told Hookey how it was/is and thats that. I dont have to answer to you or anyone for that matter but seeing as your all acting like d*cks I'll reiterate my comments and how it was. I am not trying to save face, how about you actually listen to what I said and maybe think oh thats all it is/was? No too busy slagging people off at all costs, who next week? I arrived back at the ground AT 7-15. Eton manor were mostly in the bar, no one from Basilson was to be seen to me. I was even told that they had dissapeared like lightning and didnt want to play but I dont take any notice of tittle tattle like that strangely enough. I went to the ground, the referee and linesmen were gone. I WENT IN THE CHANGING ROOM. If they were in the car park sorry for not seeing them, like I knew who they were. If Reg told you that he was wrong as I had spoken to club people minutes before and Reg was told I was on my way back. I was only round the corner. I put the flags out, I walked all the perimeter of the pitch you might have seen me. Your eyes are obviously better than mine. They would be cos you always right by the sound of it. Strangely enough we use a line marker like everyone else? Der...... There is no c o c k up in communication or passing the buck, Ive told you how it is/was and thats that but you obviously know better. Not a single puddle, thats would be the drainage is my guess, any offers? Why didnt the ref approach anyone at the club, he clearly werent in the mood either by the sounds of it.

This is such dross...

Yeh I sat at home waiting four days to write something on here.....nice one.

Heavy rain fell around four o clock, unless you are ubiquitous you would have known that.

The enlightment on here is amazing at times.........

Well thats funny that cos we left the ground at 7.30 and most of us went into the bar with the Eton Manor players,Every single one of the 16 man squad in Basildon tracksuits and you didnt see any of us,your right your eyesight is Sh ite mate time to retire methinks. So in YOUR opinion is it right to ask us to make that horrendous journey, and incur all the costs again over something that was not our fault.

World record for quick change belongs to Basildon, the game was called off at 7.10 Basildon players as I stated in an earlier post were sitting in the changing rooms fully kitted up ready to start warmups, according to you by 7.15 the changing rooms were empty, feck me I wish my players were that quick on the pitch,I can see why your a groundsman mate, you keep digging big holes for yourself.

Quality work mate keep it up, not one player in there when I walked in, Reg even said, they have all f*****d off.

I didnt offer an opinion on you travelling again did I? If I did I must have missed it or your eyes are better than mine, obviously...
