Utter Disgrace

Recommended Posts

With 2 players traveling from Southend,GaryMo from Rochford,1 player coming back a day early from holiday,1 player getting a train from Lewisham and then a taxi from the station,2 or 3 players leaving work early and 2 more cancelling their shifts completely and the rest of us battling thru rush hour traffic,we arrive at Waltham Abbey FC to play Eton Manor and what do we find,Quite a nice playing surface with no lines. The changing room end of the pitch lines were just visible if you looked hard, the other end of the pitch there were no lines at all, leaving the officials no choice but to call the game off. This in no way reflects on Eton Manor as some of their players had the same problems as we did,and Reg Curtis bless him couldn't have been more apologetic, and even he said that in all his years in football he had seen nothing like it.IMO that pitch has not been marked since our ressies played there a week ago,and even then the lines were not great.I really hope Eton Manor do not get fined for this as we all know their financial situation at the moment, but somebody needs to be accountable for all the money wasted tonight.I dare say some of our supporters who made the trip will have something to say on here when they get home tonight.

Sorry to hear this lads I always find a trip to W.A. a pain in the [****!!****] on a Saturday, but to travel all that way on a wet Monday evening to find the game has been abandoned over something as stupid as that is maddening angry. I feel for the Manor boys to as you said they must of been so embarrassed. I hope they have some strong words with their landlords!!

This is just not on. Although exactly what the communication lines between Manor and Abbey are I suppose is not for us to comment.

A pisspoor response too, I bet if W Abbey had been at home, every effort would have been made to ensure the lines were visible, even if it meant redoing them prior to KO, even if it was pissing down.

A punter on another's Forum has re-iterated that the game was originally scheduled for Wednesday and was still being shown as such on Monday on the Mitoo Website linked directly to the Essex League's own Website for fixture information, presumably the Eton Manor Secretary had informed Waltham Abbey that the game had been switched to Monday. I understand there was an FA Sunday Cup game played the afternoon before (Sunday) so it seems strange that the pitch markings deteriorated so quickly despite the heavy rain on Monday. Any thoughts on this, polite ones preferably.

i [max power] started the thread on the TK site, waltham abbey knew the match wouldnt be on wednesday as their youth team were playing that night.on wednesday morning the match was still on TK's site as taking place that night,i contacted Tony by email to tell him it was off despite the fact that this is the job of ESL officials.according to the ESL official website eton manor are still playing at tilbury!!compare the ESL website to the ridgeons oficial site,i could say more but i feel ive made my point.
