Shave off

When I saw this latest news on the website I was bemused, but not shocked. But I do feel very sad. I also feel that Paul has been used as a scapegoat and here are my reasons. At the AGM this year in the questions and answers section a question was raised about Paul Shave and his ability. The management responded by protecting Paul and enforcing the point that he was a great team player who would play in any position asked etc. This I felt was a great response and one I was proud of as a member of the BTSA. Yes, of course Paul made a serious errror on Saturday as I have already stated in another thread. But Like many on here, I think he has been our best improved player this season and despite being sent off on Saturday his disipline record is better than it was last year. So improvment on all fronts. Why then has the management had a change of heart with him, and why now if its not because he has been made a scapegoat? I guess we must be expecting a new signing in time for Saturday for I am sure with all our injuries we would not be getting rid of players like Paul at a time like this otherwise and I wait with intrest to see what our midfield line up will be. One other point I would like to raise. I have played and managed teams in the past, not at this level I will admit, but i have had aggressive though good players in my teams, I would like to know why when a yellow card is given to a player whom we know is likley to react we don't have a plan of action where a more senior or calmer player pulls the player aside and calms him down? When Joe got his marching orders on Saturday he went back to have a word with the concord player involved and was indeed taken away from the area by a player, but it was a concord player not a Billericay player! To sum up this is a very sad day for me and I wish Paul all the best for the future maybe as a club we don't deserve a player who is prepared to give the passion he did to Billericay.

I don't think paul has been made a scapegoat. Alright last season he was brought in to do a job, which he done, and this season he has done it better aswell.

But in the last chairmans blog, it was stated, players will be released and at the same time will be brought in.

The management might not have had a change in heart, paul could just have been one of the players that was on the list to release, as unfortunate as it might be, its happened, but players do need to be brought in to replace the released players.

Agreed not the most sublime of player, but was prepared to get in there (albeit) on occasions slightly the wrong side of the letter of law.

One can only assume that Paul was going to be released regardless of the outcome of Saturdays result, and regardless of both sending offs that day, (eg) the decision had been made prior to Saturday.

Anyway, good luck to Paul for the future, but take a deep breath before rushing in at times smile
