To be honest, i have no problem with this.. infact after saturday, he deserved to go. We cant keep having these suspensions with him. Good luck to the next club who gets him, but at least someone who hasnt been performing has been released..

Any more to come i wonder?

Good luck to Paul Shave.

As it says on the Web Site, he came in and did a job for us last season and helped keep us out of a bottom of the table scrap.

I agree LF, He has got us out of some scrapes along the way and i have voted for him many a time for POTM.

But i think this was one red card to many and cost us dearly.

Off the Pitch he is/was a hell of a nice bloke but on it at times he could be fierce (a bit like me behind the wheel)

Good luck to Paul where ever he end's up.

Abit harsh for a good player. Was he not used and instructed to break up and stop the oppo's game? Surely then you would expect the lad to cop a few cards? I thought he was pretty effective at that TBH.

Obviously I wasn't there on Saturday to see what happened, but if the lad is fighting for the shirt when all about is falling down, passion is all you can ask?

Best of luck lad, reckon you'll be snapped up very quickly.

Shavesie was brought in to do a specific job at a specific time and I thought that last season he did that job pretty well.

This season I think he has probably seen more first team action than was anticipated due to injuries to other players and as such maybe his limitations have been a bit more obviously exposed.

I have always stuck up for him in all the previous anti-Shavesie threads but I thought Saturday was just a bridge too far.

I'll remember the game at East Thurrock as probably his best in a Ricay shirt and as with any departing player wish him all the best in finding a new club.

Although i agree with this release, Shavesy was a great guy to talk to, he was probably on little money, but he was asked to do a job that he loved to do. For the first few games this season, he was the contender for player of the month for august(i think).

However if there is going to be releases, then we need these players to be replaced, or get players that we need, for me starting with a decent goalkeeper. Ronnie and jack are good, but they are young, with a bit more experience, and as they grow older, they could probably be good goalkeepers, but for the moment we need someone whos going to keep a few goals out a season and also save us points.

Don't think there is a problem with the keepers, they are both excellent on their day (though I do have my own 1st choice) and we are lucky to have two of such quality. The problem as I see it, is that they are swapped around too easily and not able to settle confidently into the job.

The keepers we have are good, but we can do that extra bit better with them. I agree they are swapped around too often, which is also leading to the defence being unsettled because they are being commanded by 2 different keepers, its something the management have to sort out.

Im 50/50 with the keepers we have. I do get a bit jumpy at times with them.

I dont know, it might be me, but i just think that we should send a keeper out on loan or release 1 of them, and bring in a quality keeper.

I've been busy/ away for a few days so have been pretty depressed on reading the forum after 2 pretty grim results ( Hastings and Concord)

Obviously I can't comment on the sendings off Saturday as I wasn't there but it does seem to me that Paul Shave has been made a scapegoat and excuse for all our problems which is extremely unfair.

No, he hasn't got the greatest skills, yes he is clumsy and gets booked to often ( but not malicious in my view) but he does have a bit of passion when he puts on the Billericay shirt and that counts for a lot.

As he seems to have been sacrificed for the greater cause I trust we can expect maximum effort from everybody else this weekend.

I really hope that the managers are better than that, I can't see them using Paul Shave as a "scapegoat" that would be very unjustified.

Indeed his passion for the club was immense which as i have stated before is one of the reasons i have nominated on more than one occasion for POTM.

But as you say Richards

We should have that for every game regardless.

I know that the 9 lad's left on the pitch on Saturday & the subs did rise to the challenge and gave maximum effort as did the fan's,

But the damage had already been done.

I'm surprised at that sentence Richard, do you really think that anyone believes the release of Paul Shave in itself is the answer?

You acknowledge we have had a problem, and like it or not, the injuries we have, and had, have been the major contributing factor. the available team has been forever changing, sometimes players who were not able to train thursday have managed to scrape in on the Saturday, and with us playing most Tuesdays it has left just one training session to work on things, then bang goes another player or two with another injury and that work has been lost. So the Managers have had little to work with and with little time.

Even now, we have a broken leg, a broken arm, One cruciate damage, and one recovering from an op, and these are added to the 2-3 week lay off's expected with Dorms and Cole, and the normal niggle knocks that put players out for a game or two, so something had to be done.

The fit squad we have remaining is unbalanced and failing to produce results, so quite rightly the Mangers are addressing that, and the release of Paul Shave is part of that rebuilding process. The decision to release Paul was a footballing one.

Paul did a fantastic job for us and is a top bloke, and had we had a full squad available, then my guess is Paul would still be with us because as a squad member, he ticks the boxes.

I suppose it had to happen. My view is that the challenge on Saturday was a "tad" clumsy (oh I'm understating again...sorry everyone) but he had been booked one minute prior to that...On balance, perhaps he shouldn't have thrown himself into the final challange but hey, what do I know? I have played Rugby as well as football and in the "heat" of battle, who knows what goes through people's heads? I'm certainly not one to judge.

Paul did a great job for us last season and in my opinion, was the most improved player from last season. He even got himself in positions to put some good passes through to the forwards on more than one occassion and although clumsy and ungainly did wear his shirt proudly and put in maximum effort for the club.

My lasting memory of Paul will always be last seasons East Thurrock game at their gaff. He single handed, turned around what could've been a shocking performance by the team and drove the team to win the match by his effort, pride and doggedness (he also scored two).

I agree that there are always casualties when re building a squad, some we agree with, some we don't. What we should be doing as supporters is getting behind the players, the management, club and encouraging them. No one said being positive was easy but I'll rather take that than be the opposite.

Good luck Paul, best wishes for the future.
