EFM_Five...This Saturday, For One Morning Only...

Recommended Posts

Mainly FAO: Laz, AFF, Zeal and myself.

The following are two e-mails I have received from Adam X [don't know his real surname] regarding the forthcoming Wealdstone FC Supporters' Five-a-side tournament, being held on Saturday.

--------------------

Reminder

Monday 5th May

Dear All,

Well it's just 5 days now until the very first Wealdstone FC Supporters 5-a-side tournament.

This is a just a reminder about Saturday. Can I ask all teams to be at the venue and signed in as the first games will be kicking off at 10.30am prompt. There will be a central marquee - here you can sign in.

Obviously please all bring boots (unless it rains heavily I would strongly advise mouldes or astroturf's) and shin pads.

It is likely to be four groups of four teams. Depending on who turns up on the day it could be bigger groups. The top two will qualify for the trophy sections with third and fourth entering the plate competition.

There will be food and drink available on the day and remember that Wembley RFC will be offering their bar which is just across the road.

Any questions please do not hesitate to e-mail or ring me.

See you Saturday.

Directions

Monday 5th May

I presume you'll be coming down the M1 from St Albans.

You have two options. Either come off at J5 (Watford) or J4 (Edgware).

My bet would be J4.

From J5: Come off the M1 and follow round a large roundabout and take the third exit (the one after the A41). Follow this dual carriageway all the way (down a side slip road past a roundabout) and then under a viaduct and left again - which takes you past Tesco Extra. Stay on this road which bears left at traffic lights and take you to the Bushey Arches. Follow this up the hill and round to the right almost coming back on yourself. Then take a left turn following signs for Harrow. Stay on this road for several miles untilyou come to a roundabout. On the left you can see the Roger Bannister Stadium.

From J4: Follow the A41 after coming off until you get to a roundabout. Turn right towards Edgware and continue passing Esso garage and McDonalds on the left. Stay on this road for several miles. In Stanmore town centre, you will come to a set of lights where you can either branch left or right. Stay in the left lane and then continue. You will go through Stanmore past the station and eventually come to the ground which is on the right - although you will need to come back on yourself to get in.

Any problems let me know.

So...

Team Line-up

1. Colin Zeal

2. Ben Griffiths

3. Grand High Aviator

4. Bin Fadhel

5. EFM'sLibrarian

6. Geordie Dave??

7. AFF??

Zeal. Will GD be coming? If not, AFF, can you provide boots? Have I forgotten anyone? Hornet for example?

10.30am prompt. Laz will give Fadhel a lift, AFF will give GHA, Zeal, Librarian and Griffiths a lift. If GD goes, he could maybe give someone a lift.

Zeal, Laz, AFF...thoughts?

Yours,

The Grand High Aviator Of Cool

Just remembered, what about Barkes? Zeal, he seemed up for it if I remember correctly on Sunday?

I leave you now with my thought for the day, one held close to my heart..

The term 'friendly' is unknown in the EFM dictionary

E-mail just received...

--------------------

There has been a problem with the plumbing underneath the road outside the venue and at the moment there is a big hole in the road. It is hoped to be finished for Saturday.

However at the moment the road is closed coming from Stanmore (its fine the other way). There are diversion signs. As said, it should be done for Saturday but please be prepared to give yourselves a few mins extra to get there Saturday.

Draw has been done - some VERY interesting games. Lets just say there are the likes of Enfield Town and Wealdstone, Kingstonian and Sutton United and Hitchin and St Albans in the same groups.

Everything is now in place for Saturday so just a reminder to remember your money (for those who haven't yet paid) and be signed in for 10.15am.

Many thanks and look forward to seeing you on Saturday

Adam
