Folkestone Invicta

Unfortunately, we are not exactly 'out of the woods yet' either are we ?

AS teams at our level increasingly get ousted from the FA Trophy, i expect many clubs to release players ,and maybe issue similar statements.

It happens most years anyway-just this year will be worse than ever.

Lets hope our Board can ride the storm and see Margate through this.

Lets have a great trophy run-at least 4 rounds - to get some prize money to help the club out.

all too familiar this season I'm afraid and it will only get worse.....there will be some mayhem in the short term but I'll guarantee that the average ryman premier players wage will be 50% less next season...

you are doing okay with a large cut in players wages and so are we...we were both lucky that we got it in early and we haven't allowed for any cup money either so I'm going to nick that and go to the bahamas...devil

Its a bloody shame this has to happen , where do alot of the stars of footy come from and where do alot of the stars of footy end up , in NON LEAGUE . The FA say that grass roots football is an important piece of football in this country ( SO WHY ARE THEY NOT HELPING ) . Ive said it before the top 4 finishers in the Prem should receive no prize money as they will bank millions from the champions league and sponsorship deals so let non league have it then this sort of thing can stop . My reading is that clubs like us and Hornchurch reacted JUST in time. Others haven't but the Folkestone situation just shows how fragile trying to buy success can be. And don;t forget, that's where we have been over the last few (and more!) years. There are other teams in our league that must be on weak ground too. Examples like Dover this year, Chelmsford last year where a few individuals keep dipping their hands into their pockets does not make their clubs excempt either. Just look at Grays. And there is even debate now about capping spending to income at Premier League level. So spending within club's means will be a reccurring theme I'm sure. We get through the current year, and I reckon we'll be in a good position going forward.

It seems that Folkestone are reacting now ,as our Board acted in April-and give them credit accordingly.

However, it could be argued that Folkestone are in fact in a much better position than us ,as they do not have a winding up order and a demand for an immediate payment by HRMC of

don't think any team in any league is safe. Most league clubs are indebted to each other as transfers are usually paid on installment basis if one fails it hurts others as well. For Folkestone read many others as the season progresses and sponsors hands stay in their pockets.I really hope Folkestone have acted in time.

No-one is safe. The shame is that the Premier League clubs and the FA simply do not care about grassroots football. Yes, some individual clubs get small crowds but does anyone know how many people turn up to football beneath conference level every week? (And that is a genuine question because I don't know but think it would be interesting).

The shame is that the minority of moneybags non-league clubs such as the despicable Wimbledon treat everyone else as arrogantly as the big clubs.
