Epsom & Ewell

Been very surprised by Epsom & Ewell's start to the season. Still unbeaten, picking up some decent results in the cups too.

Haven't seen them play yet? And wondered what people think of them, are they serious contenders etc etc....

I heard a vibe that the E's were confident re this season and that optimism is well founded at present.

Woods lost 1-2 there a couple of weeks ago and probably shaded the game but missed several chances.

That said, the feeling was that Epsom will go close but not close enough (probably the same can be said of us).

I have to say that if there were play offs in this league (ie 2nd to 5th play off for a second promotion place) then this season would be cracking right up to the wire.

That said, the title race is fairly open with a few clubs who could win it.

I am actually enjoying the football I am seeing so far (and not only Woods) and I "may" put my retirement on hold at the end of the season!!

I think it took a while for the league (and clubs) to adjust to the forced changes a couple of seasons back, and its reaping the benefits now.

 

Ive been impressed with the standard at div 1 and also with the clubs Ive seen so far, well run, friendly, a little less formal and money orientated than some of the top prem clubs.

I have seen them play twice this year, once away at Guildford who they destroyed, and against Ash who should have won. Ash knew how to play them amd missed too many excellent chances.

 

We were unlucky against them in the cup as they admitted, but as in any game of footie, if you dont take your chances, you wont win.

Sssh, up till now no-ones seems to have noticed we are 3 points off the top with three games in hand and are unbeaten in the league...

 

We've made a great start to the season, helped by starting with virtually the same squad we finished with last season. We left our worst performances to the cup games v Dorking and Chichester, and have ridden our luck on occasions, but you do make your own luck after all.

 

The team spirit and attitude is excellent, even Rattled is playing well

 

Early days, but I think we are good enough for a top six finish, we'll have to wait and see what position.

Absolute quality player in his time, a superb full back. Should have signed pro for Brighton, went down, had a look, didn't like it and came back to play for Epsom

Well first of all I would like to say well done to Epsom for there good start.

We played them in the league about 3 weeks ago and lost 3-2 and to be fair we were realy unlucky as Epsom scored a penalty in the second half which we dominated. But saying that they have a couple of good strikers and that makes all the differance in this league.
