Youth Teams Update

Who cares ? It's all twaddle anyway. Gloating obsessive fathers, (my boy is at Charlton / Gillingham / W.H / QPR / Palace ?Gravesend - my car is quicker than yours - my Arsenal shirt is an extra large, my Kn*b etc etc.) dodgy egotistical scouts, (normally older overweight geezers in tracksuits who couldn't run for a bus), friends in the know. Just where are the jumpers for goal posts?

Now to an interesting issue, if the local paper (Reporter) correctly quoted Andy Ford, I thought his comments about Che and Aaron were extremely patronising. Suggesting they may be more comfortable playing at a lower level. ?????

How would he feel if they suggested that maybe he would be more comfortable managing at a lower level. Although he may feel that honesty is the best policy, are such public 'put downs' (allegedly) the best way to gain the respect of players ?

I care.

"Just where are the jumpers for goal posts?" Well I sold the jumpers to pay for the fuel to go in my "quicker than yours car" to get to the shop to get an extra large Arsenal shirt to show my "friends in the know"....Gotta go here comes my bus...bugger missed it.

Quite a lot of us care.

Where do you think all the current & past football stars started & who do you think encouraged them in their early years.

The definition of twaddle in my dictionary is to indulge in dull/useless writing & talk. Reading your posting I'll take the dull writing you can have the useless writing.

I can't put on a football shirt as I don't have one but I will get in to my very speedy Peugeut 309 (90mph flat out) & drive down the M25 to work, maybe I'll see some of my overweight friends in the know who have given up running for the bus in their sweat sodden tracksuits & give them a lift, as they will need all their energy for the weekend.

Good posting Mike to my earlier Mail. I have followed this thread and I would suggest that you and the Trainers bloke probably don't fit into the categories mentioned. But come on I bet there are a lot of folk you know that do. Football is very subjective. Is Johnny better than Freddy at Left back etc etc. Its not like 100m or tennis where you have a clear winnner. Unfortunately the sad thing about subjectivity, is that the decisions may be affected by ignorance, politics and who knows who etc. Quite how a boy is mean't to prove he is better than his counterpart in one game is beyond me. My posting should have gone on to say that if your lads are unsuccessfull, they should not feel too down, as I am sure that whatever happens in the game will have very little significance on who gets selected. What if one of your team outperform the opposing manager's son. No room for objectivity there. I'm sure the game is no more than a formality.

Best of Luck

With regards to your last posting Anonymous I agree with you totally.

Sideliner, the thread is clearly headed `Youth Teams Update' & if you are not interested in these posts (which I can understand if you are not involved) then don't bother opening the thread & reading the posts then you won't get bored.

The result of the fixture was 1-1. The current Gravesend side completely dominated the first half to go in 1-0 at half time. Blue Eagles came out re-organised in the second half and played better as a result. Bottom line, the current side man for man is every bit as good if not better than the proposed side. Certainly physically stronger. What a farce!!!

If the swearing was aimed at the referee then it was probably me.

I was the one who threw his bottle of coke at the wall behind in disgust at the twat in black,

forgetting that the lid wasn't on it!

Poor old I.C......somebody else got a bit sprayed with coke too!

Other than that.....it wasn't me. Unquote

Sorry Daz Obviously you think your inane drivel is more interesting ????

Stick to telling us the train timetable or little stories

I think farce may be to strong a term. Fruitless exercise is perhaps more apt?

I would be seriosly concerned about the physical size of some of the Eagles players. Compared to the Kent opposition they would end up playing against they were very small.

Very enjoyable game, shame about the weather and the location.

Home at 10 then finish homework!

Here comes another yawn Super Daz & Sideliner.

I apologise for the lateness of this posting but after the match my car wouldn't start (starter motor went u/s). Fortunately the Blue Eagles manager & another chap helped me bump start it. Many thanks to them.

The match result was 1:1 as you all know by now and was probably a fair result on the night.

A very good game to watch, real end to end stuff & all credit to both sets of boys given that they were all under great pressure to perform.

The Blue Eagles team to prove that they were better than us physically, technically & tactically which I believe they failed to do.

The G&N U13 team to prove that the incoming were not superior to them & that the arguments given to drop them were invalid. In this I believe they succeeded. Remember also that the Blue Eagles team had the psychological advantage of knowing that they are to be next seasons U14 team & that we had psychologically been kicked in the teeth by being told you are not wanted anymore. Well Mike C who do you think came out the more psychologically mature of the two teams as you seem to put so much emphasis on this aspect. Technically & tactically I don't think there was much in it between them. As for physically our boys on average are physically bigger & as for being physical on the pitch, we did initially underestimate Blue Eagles hence loosing one of our players through injury after only 2/3 mins, but once we realised how they play their game we were well up to it & gave as good as thet got. I must say though that although there were several injuries & a couple of substitutions for injuries this was not a dirty game just a hard one.

It was noticeable that Mike Chatwin never had anything to say to our parents & boys whereas Ray Tuffield did come over after the match talked to the parents & congratulated the boys on a good game, in fact Mike spent the whole of the match on the opposite side of the pitch to us.

This leads me on to my final observation of the match. We scored first early in the second half & when the ball went in I & the rest of us were obviously very happy, while I was applauding I looked over to Mike C who to my surprise displayed a look of anguish on his face, then started to bend his upper body forward & turned it clockwise about 90 degrees whilst continuing to lower his upper body & looking at the floor. The look on his face & his body language were of utter dismay that this goal had been scored. This from the G & N Youth Section manager on the current G & N U13 team scoring a goal. Farce/Formality/Fruitless exercise they all apply as he did not want us to win.

I wish everybody at Blue Eagles the very best of luck for the coming season & hope that they don't have to suffer the same or similar problems as we have had to, but having the same people overseeing them I don't hold out a lot of hope & it will be interesting to see how many of the team are still there at the end of the season.

Regards

Anybody is entitled to express an opinion whether they are a moderator, member or somebody posting anonymously. Personally, I find this thread to be tedious in the extreme, but if people want to keep it going, then that's their privilege.

The downside of being a moderator/admin is that you have to read these threads regardless of the content.

Super Daz may find the thread boring but it dosen't mean others do. Loads of people read postings on here that are boring but it dosen't mean that they feel they have to spoil others enjoyment by making moronic 'yawn' mostings.

Sort it out Super Daz!

I can see your point, but then read dont post. Im sure Super Daz is a moderator out of choice. So he should take the rough with the smooth, as they say.

If you were at all involved with the boys concerned you would find it a very emotive subject.

If this subject is so boring then could you explain the 800+ views for only 30 messages?

Well at the risk of being too technical, that is actually one of the lower ratios of views to posts. Have a look at some of the other threads and you will see that the ratio is often over 40 views per thread, whereas this one is in the mid 20s.

The point I was trying to make is that regardless of whether someone is a moderator or not they are entitled to post, and whilst you (probably) have a point about the content, the fact that Darren is a moderator is completely irrelevent.

I must say there is a temptation to offer a youth teams forum so you can prattle away to your heart's content, but that would only leave the way open for anybody with a single issue problem to demand their own forum.

Added to that the teams below the Under 14s have never been interested enough in the website to want to have their results included, so the best thing is to leave things alone.
