Windsor 6-2 Slough Town

i feel so disapointed by the teams performance tonight, as reading and myself were discussing there were players in sunday football that would not have made such a hash of it as some of our players tonight, why sweets did not take riddell off in the first fifteen minutes i'll never know such lack of commitment i have so rarly seen, when will sweets abandon a back four as it i obviously not working, and i think most of the next training sessions should be given over to aerobic work which may give us some stamina to last out 90 minutes, and while it is good to have some "stars" in the side they all need to learn about team work ,cos windsor arn't much different to us except tonight they had the desire and worked as a team the results of which are in the scoreline tonight.

Durrant is a right full back who played left back

Harper is a centre half who played centre half.

Ergo three quarters of the back line were not playing in their natural positions.

Wiz I do largely agree with you but I disagree that it would be a positive step to change the management. Sweets has done a decent job into turning us from no hopers into a side that is largely competitive (albeit not on last night's evidence). Once the defensive issue is sorted I would want to see a consistent run from the side both in terms of selection and results and then at that point we can stand in judgement.

There really is no point in comparing to previous eras - it is a worthless exercise that depresses us all.

What was as disappointing to me last night, was how easy the surrender was.No one seemed to want to put any effort in.After the first goal[which was a cracker]Slough just disintegrated and the midfield were non existent.

When all our injured players are back,we do possess a good squad but I did find the management team wanting last night. There was no directions or instructions from the bench, the entire first half! and God knows, what was said at the half time interval,as Slough's formation stayed exactly the same and Windsor came straight out the blocks and scored straight away.Calvin Maye,to his credit, did come out and tried to stoke up some passion, with Slough's lithargic players. To think you need to stress the importance of the local derby! Obviously, some couldn't care less.

I thought Brown was wasted at full back and would have been better deployed as a two man holding midfield with Fermie with Pritchard or Harris playing in front of these. Thus stopping Windsor forwards/midfield running through our defence so easily and giving us a chance of creating our own attack.Durrant should have started as a right back.We could have used Windsor/Atrell as a left back.Anyway,we should have, at least, tried something different, once we had gone 3-0 down. What did our management team do? Nothing! so we ended up being 6-0 down! That's embarassing!

I don't think Pritchard should be Captain either[there was no stirring, rallying calls]and Riddell hasn't looked interested since he was stripped of the Captaincy.

I have no axe to grind with any of the management team and hope they can improve Slough and take us up the table but to do this, when things are not going well, they shouldn't be hiding from responsibility and should have one or two other plans of action up our sleeve,if things aren't working on the pitch.Which appeared glaringly obvious to me at last night's game but semingly unproven to Sweets/Roberts/Maye.What do others think?

Things can only get better!?

3spirit.

I thought windsor were superb last night. The first goal was fantastic. Yes we were poor and missing half a team but with a full squad we would have struggled against them.

I personally found it a bit strange that roy gumbs didn't start in centre of defence. I think he has been a rock there since his switch and those speedy windsor forwards might have slowed down a bit after a couple of tackles from big roy. I did notice he caught one of them when he came on. We could have done with that in the first five minutes. Can anyone tell me if roy played in the 3 wins on the trot we had?

I also agree with the comment about sweetman disappearing second half. I would have been out there screaming at them more second half than first half!! especially when we pulled two back. Very strange?

It is a bit galling though that Windsor played so well on a beautiful pitch that we effectively paid for!!

I also thought the ground looked a bit strange when i arrived and I couldn't put my finger on why. It wasn't till my mate said

why haven't they got any advertising that the penny dropped, it looked totally bare around the perimeter. Does the Queen drop them a few quid each season?? (or Prince philip!!)

Anyway well played Windsor ( oh that hurts ) but they were very good and if they keep that up they will win this league easily.

Roll on saturday

Yes it was a terrible performance and there can be no excuses, but for goodness sake Wiz see things in context!

Bear in mind that it has only been a mere 6 months since we were relegated from this league. No-one with the resources the club have can just come along, wave a magic wand and turn Slough into a title winning squad in that time.

Nathan, I'm not a fan of RWG's negativity but a lot of what he says is correct. If you want to put things into context - why have we been signing forwards and attacking midfielders when we've known about defensive injuries and suspensions.

Agreed you can't wave a magic wand and pull defenders out of a hat, but for all their attacking potential, defenders in the squad should have been a higher priority than getting in Harris, Romeo, Bubb etc.

Ashamed to be a Slough fan may be a little strong. Everybody should however be completely embarassed. Not to lose to a good team, there is no disgrace in that. But shipping 6 goals for the second time this season when we are meant to be competitive is not good enough

Our vocal support was poor last night.

Windsor totally out sung us with a third of the support even when the scores were level.

We seem to be becoming like a lot of clubs with 200plus support who clap and cheer when we score and moan when we dont.

i was disgusted that we didnt change the left side at 2-0 let alone 5 or 6. am i right in saying all 6 goals came from at sometime in the buildup our left side?? brown at rightback hardly had to do anything all night and whenever we went forward we had so much space on our right that we couldnt take advantage of because brown isnt an attack minded player and harris was drifting inside looking to get involved with a feable cemtral midfield. not much blame should be given to attrel and durrant though who did what they could. goal 1 was superb but set up by 2 players colliding into each other. 2 and 3 were both from defenders sliding in and overcommiting. goal 5 was again superb but led to only because of a halfhearted challenge again

whenver we had the ball we didnt play it to the runners. romeo time and time again was ignored in favour of just dallying on the ball before being tackled

the lack of changing things up formation wise and subs wise before it was beyond too late pissed me off more than anything

fair play to windsor they fully deserved what they got

another thing i didnt like was seeing the team just strolling out for the 2nd half not as a united team but as a group of individuals who had as good as given up

My feelings also, having taken my advice to play him there and as he was a success as well, apart from his sending off,why he never started there last night can only be a complete mystery. The fact that commitment seems poor at times, I wonder a bit about all these injuries-lets hope they only get paid when they play!

People keep saying it can only get better-what do they mean losing 5-2,4-2,3-2 etc etc-shipping 17 goals in 3 games tells us the real story-only a fool would disagree.

Here are my thoughts for what they are worth:

Why oh why did Roy Gumbs not start at centre back? After all,

he did a sterling job in the wins over Andover and Cirencester.

Lack of fitness shown throughout the Slough team.

First half, what studs were some of them wearing? Constantly slipping up.

Lee Riddell sending off? What a plonker, should be on the stage

with those theatricals. Hope he is disciplined by the manager.

Roll on Saturday, cant be as bad as that!

even the 3 we won in a row we conceded 2,2 and 1

roy showed his appreciation to the fans at full time. he realised how good the support had to be to stay to ft.

gumbsy in defence would have at least let the strikers of windsor know they were in for a bit of a battle

we need at least 1 more out and out defender in before the weekend if possible

I think the plan must have been to play as many defenders or defensive-minded players in the back 4 as possible. I think, looking back, I would have played Gumbs too but he isn't the quickest and is exposed by pace. Riddell has played at the back a few times and Brown must have drawn the short straw. His presence was sorely lacking in midfield. Fermie looked very unfit and made no impact.

Last season we conceeded, on average, just over 2 goals per league game. This season its around 2.9 per game.

Thankfully we are scoring more goals, so we've got some points. I didn't think our defence would leak more goals this season than last (and quite a lot more too), but somehow its happened.
