Windsor 6-2 Slough Town

Right, well all that were there saw the performance. Woeful for 70 minutes against a good side. Not going to slag anyone off, but just a few observations:

1) We had missing numbers, but they seemed a lot, lot fitter and sharper than us. I don't personally think our fitness as a group is that good at all.

2) You've seen what pace does to a defence in Chennells and Porter. Byron should be starting games for us and playing 90 minutes.

3) Our new midfielder seems very similar to both Pritch and Brown. We need LEGS in midfield. Someone who will get round the pitch. Don't get me wrong, i'm not having a go at Chris Fermie, but it seems like we've got carbon copies of each other in midfield.

I'll add this here as this will be the right place for it!

The second half was truly bonkers. We looked like we had surrender and were just collapsing to defeat and then after chaotic Windsor defender for the first Slough goal we seemed to liven up both on the pitch and behind the goal. Slough managed three shots on target and scored with the first two.

First half we were woeful. We played into their hands by launching long balls forward throughout the first half which were almost invariably comfortably dealt with by Butler.

Whereas Windsor took one look at our back four of from right to left: Brown, Rids, Harper and Durrant and thought they would have a go at us. Felt sorry for the back four really, slung together due to absences, injury and suspension.

I do think we had it tactically wrong. Also surprised and disappointed that we hadn't signed someone either on loan or by way of a seven dayer to cover in defence. Fenton's absence was presumably known of for sometime, Daly is long term injured and McGonigley has been injured for a while. Has Evans picked up his injury in training or was he injured at Taunton? Either way we knew he was missing for at least three games.

It is frustrating that the wheels had to fall off so spectacularly in the last two games.

But the positives are that when everyone is fit and available you could bring into the team today:

Jackson, Daly, Evans, Fenton, McGonigley and Platt - to name just six!

horror show ! we could not stand up ! we were slipping all over the place ... WHY !

Windsor were on fire in the first half and scored some impressive goals...

to think we were going to lose 10 tonight at one stage, we rescued a bit of pride, until lee got sent off ! what a reason to get sent off !

this puts us under more pressure for defenders...

Our supporters deserve a pat on the back tonight ..stayting to the end and supporting our team to the end...and gave Windsor the biggest crowd of the season ! so far

come on you rebel players we need you to step upto the plate and get us moving again.... see you all saturday...

Agree totally. Not an excuse just a fact. I think we were missing 5 likely starters. But [****!!****] happens. We have a big squad now and should have been able to cope better than that.

The last 2 matches have been truly horrendous, and tonight easily matched the worst displays of last season. I don't think I have ever seen worse marking than that managed by Slough tonight--it was quite simply non existant.

Lee Riddell's sending off was an example of extreme stupidity. Having done a dying swan act, when he didn't get a free kick, he not only made a recovery from death that would have made Lazarus jealous, he then ran like an olympic sprinter at the peak of fitness to manhandle a Windsor player slap bang in front of the ref.

Two stupid and completely unnecessary sendings off in 2 games, and an inability to even try and mark players makes me wonder if Wiz has a point. Some of the crap that the players are producing is quite pathetic.

Well that summed up a disappointing couple of games. 2 games which I thought prior to entering it would be possible to gain 4 points - perhaps I was expecting too much.

Tonight was bad. Defensively it was shocking. Unfortunately the "defence" and Dennison have to take the blame for at least 3 of the goals, the other 3 being absolute class from Windsor.

I have to agree with Chris - Windsor looked much sharper and fitter and easily look like they could get promoted if they play like they did tonight for the rest of the season.

Less said about Riddell the better, his attitude for the sending off capped a truly wonderful performance not only by himself but from the team!

Martin to an extent I agree with you, but really at times it looke as if our defence didn't know each others names let alone are supposed to have(supposedly) prepared for this precise situation in training session prior to the match???

I think it would be easy to bang on about Slough Town tonight but I'm not going to mention our display as it was there for all to see.

Instead I'm going to give Windsor full credit as they were absolutely brilliant. Clearly they've improved an already good squad from last season and it looks like they can go all the way this term. They simply tore us apart and were well on top except for two crazy minutes in the second half. It was a real drubbing in truth.

Their first and fifth were absolutely unstoppable and a couple of the others in between were very good too. Even with the sixth, although it was a bit sloppy for Chennels to have been able to take it round Dennison, the angle was still tight and it was another great finish.

I also thought there was a clear difference in fitness between the two sides, which was very disappointing.

One thing I noticed about the management - I know that muppet RWG likes to moan about Sweetman, but I didn't see an awful lot of management going on in the second half. I was sat in the stand and it looked like Calvin Maye was doing the work with the others seemingly having given up the ghost, much like the Slough players on the pitch. Not good enough.

Having said all the above, I think when we get Jackson, Dickens, Fenton, Evans, McGonigley, Platt and Bubb back in the starting eleven we won't be so bad!

As for Riddell, you'd have thought he'd know better given our lack of defenders at the moment.

Platt was late because of a story involving a friend, car and a train and Fenton was away because of some family thing.

Oh and to add to that, we might need a bigger squad because of injuries and suspensions.

Injured

Jackson injured.

Dickens injured.

McGonigley injured with a more serious injury than first thought.

Evans injury sustained from his sending off at Taunton.

Daly injured.

Fermie looked injured when he came off.

Suspended

Riddell now suspended.

Harper 3 game suspension and 1 booking away from another 1 game suspension.

Fenton 1 booking away from 1 match ban.

Gumbs possible further suspended pending FA decision.

I hear we have 2 short term loanees coming in and possibly another centre back via a 7 dayer.

Firstly, because of his stupidity at the way he got sent off at a time when we are in desperate need for players to be fit and available and secondly, (although he not alone) for his performances imo have been nothing short of abysmal I wouldn't be too sorry if Riddell sat on the bench for the rest of the season.

Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh but the way he got himself dismissed was imo unforgivable.

Thank goodness for that!

Nathan I agree we should have been better prepared but I'm not going to slag off individual players who were asked to play out of position. When three quarters of your back line are not playing their natural position you are always going to concede goals. I thought we should and could have been set up better to deal with the onslaught.

Being a bit perdantic and I stand to be corrected but isn't Durrant a full back and Harper a central defender?.

True but Durrant plays right side not left.

Oh dear, never felt so ashamed to be a Slough fan as I was tonight.

Never got any pleasure out of telling you that the Uxbridge signing was a waste of time.Never got any pleasure out of telling you the management are not up to scratch and it seems never will be.

Forget about the players( I mean players in a charitable kinda way)I mean for starters another sending off, is there no discipline, cos there certainly aint any brains in this team, no the difference mainly was/is that their manager has played at a high proffessional and non league level so knows how to play the game, knows that fitness and speed are major factors in sides doing well, and has it would seem the respect of his players.

Lets all hope and pray sweetman and roberts have the good grace to resign in the morning.

I don't believe Windsor have huge budgets, yet have a decent manager and some good players.

Matt-nathan-tom-rebel this and rebel that-please dont bother slagging me off-unfortunately I have been proved right all along( though I take no pleasure in being so)and you all have been so wrong.
