Concorde and Sir Richard !

Recommended Posts

Here's a new one to get you all going.

Should Big Tone and Cronies over-rule British Airways and allow Sir Richard Branson to buy the fleet of Concordes ?

I definitely think they should. They are a flagship for Britain.

Sir Richard should have had the Lottery anyway !

Answers on a post-card.........................

Sod BA. Their crew are useless and ugly, their plane seats itch and they didnt serve breakfast on a morning flight to Amsterdam!!! (Perhaps this ought to be in the Room 101 thread)

I think the Concordes should keep going until at least I can afford to fly in them. If Branson can keep them going, then good luck to him. As long as they're safe.

Concorde is a flagship for Britain AND France, by the way.

Do you reckon they'll design a new supersonic airliner? Concorde was pretty impractical, though beautiful and a monument to great design and technology (as well as to Anglo-French cooperation)

I purposely didn't mention the French, seeing as how Monsewer Chirac was so well in with Soddom and Iraq !

Still, that's another story..........

But they WERE part of the design and construction of Concorde.

You cant just ignore or change bits of history, you know. It's a very communist thing to do! Have you read 1984

As for the French stance on the war, every nation has their own right to decide what they do in any matter. To resort to name-calling is somewhat childish. However, what did p!ss me off about the French, is why did they sign the first resolution if they NEVER had any intention of using force, even after a second resolution? Sacre bleu!

(BTW - Does anyone know the origin of Sacre Bleu? Why is blue sacred?)

The 'Russian one' is in fact (I beleive) A Tupolev TU-something-or-ther and would have been flown by a Russian (Well, it was the Soviet Union at the time).

TU-144 I believe.

Obviously the crash was due to gross negligence then!

He would also have been a Russian if he came from Russia. Rather like being English and British....and European.....

Without integrity as we perceive it. Yes, they were tits to dither, go back on something already agreed and general slippery shenanigans. Bit like the Russians and Germans, but no-one seems to care about that.

Unlike the utmost integrity shown by us, eh?

Evidence of weapons of mass destruction before the war - but still only a few old shells and some poison that can be made in a sink found 7 weeks later.

And of course there's the regime that has abused human rights, illegally invaded and occupied other territories, has these weapons and constantly breaches UN resolutions.

So, we'll be invading Israel next then................

The Russki's got their cum-uppance with their T.U., which was nicknamed the Concordski by B.A.

I had to go to Farnborough one Saturday morning, years ago, when they were doing fuselage stress tests on Concord. The security was absolutely top notch. Every third home-office police officer was armed, and I was escorted everywhere by an armed officer. They already knew that the 'reds' werepinching bits and pieces of info of that beautiful plane.

They put theirs in the air too early and without proper testing, hence the Paris Air Show crash.

I just hope Sir Richard stuffs British Airways, yet again !!
