Like Alan, and possibly a few others-i also missed sept player of month-i remember the august one, but don't recall sept pl of month being 'advertised'.

 

If it were-i think we would have had the same debate as august-i.e -a few players missing-notably -and arguably a strong contender-Kenny Pratt-plus Kerrigan and Lee Butcher.

 

The official site does talk of 'qualification criteria-what exactly is the qualification criteria.?

Arguably Kerrigan did not have enough games,but surely KP must have met the qualification criteria-unless he is not a contracted player and that is the criteria.

If he is not-for heavens sake-get him contracted pdq !!

 

Is an 'extention' to the timescale called for

We have reviewed the player of the month poll on the official site in light of some obvious unusual voting patterns.

 

One option we did consider was withdrawing the poll all together - and lets be clear, this was because a small number of people voting chose to try to "fix" the outcome. This is particularly disappointing given that most fans take it seriosuly as a way to recognise good performances of our players in the month.

 

However, we have opted instead to tighted the qualification criteria. I am resluctant to be clear about waht the qualification criteris will be effective from the October poll as I can just imagine those same people trying to make a nonsense of this approach, but there will be a much restricted list from which to vote.

 

This does mean more a bit more work for Niki and me which we don't mind so long as people engage with the poll in the right spirit.
