crikey that was a shock and I nearly stayed to watch it as well but nette and I were there for 4 hours helping with the cleaning up after yesterday and decided to chill at home for the afternoon instead...

I spoke to a few of the basildon guys on the way out and real nice people they were too and I am sure they will move on from that and its good to see their 1st team are doing really well in their league....well done larry and the team and hard luck the young bees...

i saw the 2nd half and we looked a very good side. Some indiscipline from a couple of basildon players but overall what i saw, there was nothing malicious apart from the sending off of one of the basildon players for foul and abusive language and he was still screaming obscenities as he walk off up in to the changing rooms.

to think i could have been there instead of watching some essex cup game and a young keeper scoring direct from a kick out of his hands....managers know best though wink

They were very indisciplined in the first half. The number of times that I heard a Basildon player shout to a team mate "crunch him" when a Hornchurch player tried to take an opponent on was shocking. If I could hear it from the stand, then the referee must have been able to and, after the first or second occasion, should have told the Basildon captain that the next player to do it would walk. He didn't and set himself up for a few problems later in the game. The kid who did walk deserved it. He was frustrated but there was no need to shout at a club lino in that manner.

great game. hornchurch could have scored about 20, seriously.

was great to see hornchurch sub a striker for a goalkeeper, with the original keeper then playing centre forward for the rest of the match.

The Manager followed the player into the dressing room. At 8-0 down, he probably thought it a better bet than staying in the dugout! grin

I think that putting the 'keeper up front is the reason why you didn't score a lot more. Yes, he went close a few times (the shot that hit the bar was unlucky) but the shape and professionalism went a bit awry as the team seemed content to keep trying to set him up. The only bit of "professionalism" I saw from that moment on was when your regular penalty taker insisted on taking the spot kick rather than the goalie-cum-striker. Well done, your number 7!

Basildon United would like to apologise to any person or officials who were at the U18 game today who took offence to the behaviour, language or attitude of any of our players or parents. As a club this is not something we will accept or condone.Hopefully you will give us time to talk to certain people involved to get their side of things. We take this very seriously, and I can assure you that the matter will be dealt with by the club.If the stories I am hearing turn out to be correct heads will roll.We have worked very hard over the last couple of months improving our image and it is very important to me personaly that our hard graft does not go to waste.

Regards

Colin Cook

1st Team Manager

Basildon United FC

As youth secretary for the Basildon Under 18's I would very much appreciate it if anyone who was at the game could PM me with a synopsis of both our team's behaviour and any of our parents or supporters during the course of the game.

The feedback I have received is that something detrimental may have occurred and that, rather than listening to one or two people, would like to get an account from someone who was there. I prefer things to be investigated and try to acquaint myself with the facts rather than make it a witch hunt.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind comments towards our small but improving club, and best of luck in your FA Cup tie this week. You get a mention in just about every programme so we know how well you're doing this season, well done.

Cheers

Groyney
