what a bloody good day that was...

yeah... I know we won.. and comfortably so as well as the threat from free scoring merstham was lost against an urchin team too strong for the surrey youngsters on the day and on another day it could have been 4 or 5 but no matter.. for today was about NL football and all it stands for...

not a huge attendance at 475 but most certainly a lively.. colourful and noisy one with many visitors from all clubs and all walks of life in attendance...the clamour and excitement in the bar and restaurant and ground was apparent early on and the merstham colourful travellers added to that and played their part in an excellent afternoons FA Cup footie in the late autumn sunshine at the bridge in all its colourful silver and gold glory...

we played well today and never looked in any danger but the day belonged to everyone who attended and participated in what was surely an excellent advert for both NL football and the FA Cup itself...not one booking...not one bad foul..just good honest endeavour and real end to end cup footie....

well done you all...applause

Hi, just wanted to say as a Merstham fan that despite the result I still thoroughly enjoyed the game today. You've got a great ground (shame about the running track), a lovely clubhouse and myself and all the supporters received a fantastic welcome and continued hospitality all day long from the fans and the committee.

We didn't play well today but I won't take anything away from your performance which was very good. We had some good chances in the first 20 minutes but after that you were unlucky not to score more than the two you did.

I will keep an eye out for the draw as it's always interesting to see who we might have got but we are proud to have reached this stage for the first ever in the club's history and going out to a club with your club's pedigree in this competition is no disgrace.

Good luck in the cup and for the rest of the season!

Yeah, a good day overall. Although Uncle's feeble attempt to get me to wear an Urchins scarf weren't gonna happen !!!

Hi to all who were there today (hi bomaya, I know who you are 'cos you mentioned the running track to me grin). What a great day. Lovely to see everyone, a great result and really nice to meet some of my freemyfc pals - thanks to Karl and Jen as ever for their hospitality. AFC Hornchurch must be the friendliest club in the league.

I have only just got back to my hotel room - Jane/Bitch and I gatecrashed an 18th birthday party in the hotel bar and then some motorcycle racer boys on their way to Brands Hatch joined in .. and they started a disco ... the bikers limbo-danced under my Hornchurch scarf ... and we have been on the dancefloor all night. I really should start growing old gracefully laugh

Get to the first round and get a league club home or away.

If you're away then you'll get the money through the gate receipts.

At home and there's always the possibility of a live game on Setanta or ITV.

see reason why i asked this is because When at bromley I asked my mates Dad who gets what from the tie he said the gate receipts gets split half/half for both clubs which obs the winner of the tie to get the prize money for going through. But I thought origianally that if your at home you get the gate receipts with the winner of the tie getting the prize money
