Rob, or anyone can you explain the following:

 

"Simon Martin, Craig Mackail-Smith and Ryan Moran have all been offered re-engagement under the 'Bosman' ruling as they are under 24 years of age and out of contract. They have 28 days to respond and, as when Simon Martin joined, the Club can demand a fee from another club should they decline our offer. "

 

I don't quite understand what it means.

It means Cookie wants them to stay.

 

It also means that if they don't want to stay, the club they go to has to give us some cash.

Players under 24 cannot just walk away when their contracts expire as the older players can.

 

When Bosman came in this was included to help clubs protect their younger assets. Without it, small clubs could bring a player up through the Youth teams only to see him disappear to a large club when his contract ends.

You know this Bosmon ruling thingy, well, in Simon's case, i'm sure he signed a 2 year deal last season, so he still has one more season left. But in anycase, he had better hurry up and sign because he is going to turn 24 soon and so it wont count.

 

I also asked Cookie if he is going to keep Simon and he replied, "yes, he's here for another five years!" (i think he was joking though)
